See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
Alex Tate - OC
Okay. Um. This? This is really weird. I don't like this.
[To her credit, the girl's probably in shock. That's why she's just standing there, staring at everything with wide eyes, right?
Really? It's because, well. After the year she's had? She can completely believe this is happening to her. Just another wonderful chapter in book called "The Ways My Life Can Get Screwed Up."
But. Okay. The nineteen-year-old girl is heading down the path of the village and-- grabbing the arm of the first person she sees. She tries her best to smile and look friendly.]
Hey. Um. Can you... tell me where to get something to eat? Please?
ii.
[Okay, this? This is kind of awesome. Getting to play pirate is definitely not the worst thing that's ever happened to her. She's learning how to deal with a ship, and, right now she's very happily digging in the setting sun. About an hour more, she's willing to guess.
Then she can get a lot of work done.]
You really think there's buried treasure here?
[Of course she does. She wouldn't be digging otherwise. But she wants to know what her shipmate thinks.]
iii.
[The sweet, cheerful "used to a compound bow" girl usually seen wandering around on the deck? Is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Alex is intense and in the middle of a battle.
The sun is down, and the change is complete. There's almost no color to her skin, and her canines are far more pronounced and far sharper. She moves at least twice as fast and twice as quietly, moving from one attacker to the next, leaving nothing but bleeding corpses in her wake, throats torn out or otherwise mangled.
There's no reason to hold off on her bloodlust in this fight. It was already "kill or be killed." She only has to hope that her crew truly believe that the white bands she fixed around their arms earlier (telling them they had magical ward to make them believe harder, for it was all about willpower) would protect them from being harmed by her.
Otherwise, an ally might find themselves face-to-face with a bloody, hungry dhampir.]
I'll pick i.
The next thing he knows, out of nowhere someone is grabbing onto his arm and he turns with a bit of a start.]
Ah!
[It's a woman who's a bit older than him and he blinks at her question.]
I'm not sure where to eat, I just started dreaming this place. Isn't this the kind of thing my dreams would know already?
no subject
[Now, she's used to dreams being interactive. Somewhat real, but this... This is a whole new level of weird. Nothing like what she's ever experienced before. Because those are conversations, not entirely new places.
But... Maybe this is... some really weird version of a dream? Something she's never experienced before.]

[He glances at her.]
You don't seem like you're trying to attack me, so it's probably not an illusion. I was...
[He looks around.]
Well I don't know! [He gives a sheepish laugh.]
no subject
[It's her immediate reaction to an illusion being mentioned. Because that is a real possibility. Even though she's supposed to be done with those things.
But it might be Victor testing out the powers? Or... Something. Who knows.]
Damn. This is...
Pretty messed up, isn't it?

[He pockets the journal.]

3, pls
He does not place mercy in this fight, not when it means his life, and easily slits a young man's throat before kicking him aside. It's then that he sees Alex sliding through the throng of bodies as if she knew where to go - a spark of fear mixed with admiration slides down his spine and Kidd finds himself being shoved to the deck for the distraction.
A brute of a man stands over him - easily twice his size and wields a great axe in his hands. Kidd reaches for his second pistol - club be damned and fires it into the hulking giant's chest. The sharp clang of metal against metal sounds off and he staggers, but is not dead.
Scrambling away is his best bet, and the hidden blade in his coat sleeve is unsheathed as he stands and turns to thrust it into the man's armpit but the back of his hand smacks against Kidd's jaw and sends him reeling into Alex's path.]

Seconds later, Alex sits up, still straddling the corpse. His eyes are fixed open, staring at the sky with an expression of true horror, and his throat is mauled. Not cut, no. Nothing so humane. It looks like an animal did it.
And there's fresh blood around Alex's mouth, her canines elongated and sharpened to a wicked point. There's no humor, no laughter and light, in her eyes as she looks up at Kidd. It's a positively wild expression -- the wolf deciding whether it's still hungry. But some sense returns, and she pushes herself to her feet, licking her lips as she does it.]

Instead, she put her focus on retrieving the treasure from this island. Even with the importance of what she left behind, she couldn't help but be a little excited about the new adventure she found herself in.]
We will never know until we try.
[She just looked over the map again, making sure they were at the right spot.]
How far down do they bury these things?
no subject
[It sounded right, at least.
But Alex doesn't really know, and she isn't going to pretend she does. It's a weird life, this new adjustment, but she's trying to adapt, trying to get used to it.
At least it's almost sundown. Then she can really make a dent in all this heavy sand. Which is really annoying.]
