Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ NAVY SHIPS! Cannon fire! Guns and explosions! It's a Pirates vs. Navy battle! **HINT: This might be a good one to try this time around... :D

[He paused, well that he can understand, but he himself had only just arrived, so it's not like he actually did anything till now. Now he can understand if he was arrested.]

I guess they are doing their jobs. [And he just sunk their ship. He slowly realized that well, they are going to be mad.]

[Merrill seems to mull that over as she's being guided.] I'm certain it won't not matter. We should know about where we are. Maybe we could see the sights. [She brightens up a little at that thought.] Do you think they have sights?

I doubt they actually choose us on purpose though. Just be careful, remember that you're probably not as strong as usual.

[A stupid pirate enemy ends burning down when he tries to take Ikki by surprise attacking his back.]

Not any more than usual, though they do have this outrageous hat shop. I would've been convinced we're somewhere near Orlais if they had used a trifle more peacock feathers in their work.

[not that they didn't try. Must've run out of peacocks.]

[So, being lost at sea was not ideal. Sure, it wasn't as big of a deal for Greed as it would be for a normal person, but that didn't mean he had to like it. So the first ship that's docked and/or gotten close enough to the island the guy got himself stuck on? Yeah, you might find that you've suddenly got an extra passenger casually wandering around on deck.]

Nice ship you've got here, pal. You don't mind if I hitch a ride, right?

[Considering how suspicious the guy looks and acts, it should be no surprise to anyone that the Navy decided to go after Greed. But rather than panic and run away or stand and fight, Greed's just kind of... annoyed. Do you have any idea how many times he's been shot today? It gets irritating after a while, okay.

Currently, he's standing over the unconscious bodies of a group of Navy officers that attacked him. With a sigh, he examined a big hole in the sleeve of his jacket where a bullet had passed through. There was no actual wound, though. Well, not anymore at least.]

Damn it, I liked this coat...

Oh yeah? You got some money to pay for this ferry ride?

[She's about to tell him exactly what she thinks of that attitude (because who does he think he is?) but then she gets a full dose of handsome right in the face. Someone standing behind her and looking over her shoulder would see a young man who simply looks impatient to be moving and a bit incredulous of the girl staring at him with wide, sparkling eyes, but through Kai's eyes, it's as if Henry is in a much softer focus, with a vague aura of light about him.]

S-sure. Where are we going? [If she sounds distracted, well, she is.]

Oh, noooo. No, no, no. Prison and execution are not "okay" things...!

But I'm just saying, you seem pretty strong even without any help, and--

[Right, moving forward, harbor. Escape!

Ruby makes a face before mumbling to herself.]

Grab and quit, huh. Grab and quit sounds good, right...?

[She gives a small huff, and then bolts forward, swinging Crescent Rose in wide arcs ahead of her as she goes just to pave the way.]

[She hefts it up and with a casual flick it folds out into a giant scythe easily bigger than Ruby herself.]

I mean... I guess it'd be a problem for some folks, but I've trained for this! Back home I was training to be a Huntress, to fight dangerous monsters and stuff like that, so... eh, it's not so bad.

[She flips it back to the still absurdly sized sniper rifle mode just as casually, the point of a girl her size being able to wield something like that still not seeming the least bit odd to her.]

[She also gives a glance over in their direction...did one of those guys have a wooden leg?] That won't be a problem.

[Well Korra is the Avatar, she'd know about spirit stuff the best. Asami loosely crosses her arms, letting out a soft sigh]

I guess for the time being we have no choice. [That last part catches her attention, raising an eyebrow] So how long have you been here exactly?

[Marvelous leans out a doorway, sighs deeply, and crosses his arms.

Just what was it with people thinking they can wander on here with no invite?]

Who the hell are you?

Uh, well, not really. Just away from where these guys are.

[Roxas gives him a little grin and almost misses one of them charging after him. He moves out of the way and then swings his keyblade around to whack him in the back.]

[Greed's pretty unfazed about meeting a shark guy. He used to hang around chimeras all the time, so it's not that different.]

Yeah, uh... not exactly. But you seem like a reasonable guy. So how about you let me on here, I'll get off at the nearest port and we'll both be on our way. In the meantime, you won't even notice I'm here.

[avartwice]

[Well maybe you shouldn't make your ship so easy to get onto then Marvelous, have you thought about that?]

Right, right, probably should have started with that. The name's Greed. And I'm guessing you're the captain here, right?

[imashaaaaark]

If you can ride, then you can bust your ass to keep this ship moving.

[He crosses his arms and points to the riggings.]

You got a steady hand? We need someone to repair some sail tears.

[Marvelous sighs, then as the soldiers he was holding at bay end up beneath a wooden overhang above the door to a bar... which he casually shoots out the supports of, causing the overhang to collapse on top of them.

Twirling his gun as he calmly starts to move along, her just jerks his head in the direction he's walking.]

Guess you can hitch a ride then, unless you REALLY want to fight all of these losers.

[Oh joy, manual labor, just what he had been hoping for. Great.

He just about resisted the urge to go "do I have to?" like a whiny kid, but he can't exactly make himself look happy about it either.]

Of course, no such thing as a free ride. Literately in this case. But fine, your ship, your rules.

...so how the hell does one fix a sail, anyway?

[Look, he's used to a ship with automated defense systems. These things are all low rent compared to what he's used to.]

Yeah. Captain Marvelous.

...Greed, huh.

[Man, that's not a suspicious name in the least.]

[Well then you'd better get used to stowaways while you can. At least this one was polite enough to introduce himself.]

Yeah, that's right. I didn't choose it, if that helps. But I won't pretend it isn't very fitting, either.

[He doesn't want to hear any complains about his name from a guy named Marvelous, okay?]

Once a month, a lot of people show up here. [Winry nods at the fountain.] I can't explain why. It doesn't make any sense to me.

[She offers her hand.] I'm Winry Rockbell.

[Winry had ducked down behind a bunch of barrels when the shooting started, staying out of the way while the fight was going on. When everything's quiet, except for some groans, she pokes her head out to make sure everything's clear.

It looks okay, but.

It can't be, can it?

Well, it's not like she can explain how she and Ed got here, after all.]

Ling???

[She scrambles up off the street, dusting her knees.]

You - you - we need to get out of here!

[Grabbing his wrist, Winry starts to drag him back toward the dock, where The Panthress is waiting.]

[imashaaaaark]

[He practically shoves a patch kit into his arms before grabbing him by the collar.]

You sow. Simple. You can do that much, right?

[avartwice]

Crap, I hope I can still get this fixed- huh?

[Wait, who is that heading for him? Someone who knows the Prince apparently... Oh, right, wasn't this Ed's girlfriend or whatever? What was her name again...

And now she's dragging him away, what is even happening.]

Look, I'm not- you don't have to drag me you know, I can follow you just fine, geez.

[Despite his protests, he doesn't exactly struggle or anything.]

[She smiles and nods calmly. Her posture and manners are all calm, very unlike how she feels inside. As much as she tries to rationalize it, to understand it, she doesn't like being chased like a criminal, it hurts her pride, and she feels useless knowing that nothing she says or do could change the situation.]

All right.

[She agrees easily with the other boy, knowing that he's right. Staying in place only asks for more trouble, specially after sinking one of the Navy ships.]

Finnian, even if they are doing their jobs, you know we can't allow them to arrest us, right? No matter what it seems to them, we're not criminals, and we can't waste our time trying to convince them.
