Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ NAVY SHIPS! Cannon fire! Guns and explosions! It's a Pirates vs. Navy battle! **HINT: This might be a good one to try this time around... :D

Well, yeah, but you kind of have to go with the lesser of two evils on that one, but -- [It takes her a few seconds of running her mouth to process the information, but whatever it is that's allowing them the ability to communicate with each other in the first place helpfully translates "Medieval Japan" as "Hey, that's where you're from, Kai!"]

--ah! Medieval Japan! That's it! That's where I'm from!

[Probably not the same one that exists where Rose is from. There, ladies of the samurai class weren't exactly known for big hair and short skirts...]

But, um, if you need any help adjusting, I'd like to do whatever I can.

[bigbadrose]

[A giant grin. Either he knows and is protecting the Doctor, which is a good sign, or he is just that paranoid to begin with. She offers him a handshake.] Rose Tyler. And you are, then?

[He still eyes her as he shakes her hand.]

[He then moves to take his journal and show it to her.]

As for your question... Do you have one of those without knowing where you have got it?

Oh right! [Flips hers open.] But I couldn't tell if it was psychic paper or what, so I was saving it for later.

Is it important?

[bigbadrose]

[Just... a blink.] Right, okay then. 1336?

[She taps the nail polish jar.] I don't remember it being so violent either, but I guess the geisha houses were a bit nicer. [Weak grin, because yeah, a blond going to geisha houses in 1336 Japan, nothing weird about that.]

It is. It's the only way we have to communicate with others in our same situation in other places.

[He opens his journal and searches the pages for a moment until he reaches a message from the Doctor and activates it so the man's voice is heard.]

Recognize this voice?

[bigbadrose]

DOCTOR! [She just seizes the book and jumps up and down.] Oh! That's him! That's him all right!

Oh... he sounds pretty angry, yeah?

[Looks back up at Ikki.] How long has it been?

He has been here as long as me as far as I know. This will be his fourth month here. I would bother explaining how time can be screwed here, but I have the impression that you probably know that already. Just don't be surprised if he is from earlier than you remember.

[He starts to walk in direction to the port.]

He should be at the ship, come if you want to see him.

[bigbadrose]

Often enough.

Icky jobs, yeah? Well, there's a place for that kinda thing too in all this, no worries. 'Sides, if you're into icky jobs, why were you hiding?

[bigbadrose]

Four months?!

No wonder he's angry. The doctor doesn't like being stuck on linear timelines.

Yes, thank you, please, take me to him right away. [She holds a finger up to her lips.] And don't tell him I'm here yet please. It'll be a fun surprise.

[bigbadrose]

There's a good lad. [Offers her hand to Finnian for him to hold.] Well, hopefully they'll think better about shooting at unarmed civilians with uh... rocks, yeah?

Come on then, I'm Rose Tyler, and I think we might want to get away from the shore now. Where are you from?

[arcadiasailor]

You'd know better. My old crew preferred Go.

[He shrugs. He hadn't had time for target practice since arriving He draws his Cosmo Dragoon and takes aim at one of the more head shaped targets. He briefly wished they they had a few watermelons to hit that would help with blowing off a little steam. He aims right between the eyes on the crude smiley face and fires.]

[patchworkallegiance]

Very good.

[He looks at the gun the man uses. Well, that's something he hasn't seen before.]

May I ask -- what sort of pistol is that?

No, no, later than that. What on earth were you doing there then? Or in that sort of place? That must have been a total mess! That's no place for a lady!

[Her brain is starting to hurt. Her brow furrows as she tries to figure it all out, but it's pretty much beyond her.]

[bigbadrose]

It was a lot of fun actually! And I couldn't let the boys go without me. And miss Jack trying to put on a show? No way!

The rest got a bit hazy though, long story, yeah? So you're a samurai? And royalty? I didn't think that was allowed.

When I find out, I'll tell you. Usually I don't start out with everyone out to get me.

[It's kind of hard to be stealthy when you don't know where you are or what you're doing there.]

Usually, when people are this mad at me, I at least know why.

"Sounds like a plan. I'll get to the water, then." Korra didn't wait for an answer and was quickly by the rails, avoiding the idea of sustained airbending as much as she could.

She took a steady stance and adjusted her breathing to begin the steady push and pull of the ocean. This wasn't like a fight where she could just whip water around all she wanted. Controlling the flow of the ocean was something that forced her to dig a lot deeper.

Well, not royalty. Wouldn't that be nice, though? But no..."of good breeding," I guess you'd say? [Good enough to earn the endless stream of "Princess [something unflattering, usually bear-related]" jokes.]

I'd still never go to a place like that, though! I have a reputation to maintain.

Well if I wasn't I'd be dead.
[Ne stairs down at the gun.]
Cosmo Dragoon custom built by my friend. There the most powerful guns ever mad and there are only 4 in the universe. Though for some reason it's the output lowered here. They're designed to punch tough metal. Makes for a heck of a recoil.

[bigbadrose]

Makes sense.

[She grins broadly.] Luckily, my reputation's already a bit bad. Rather like a wolf really. But don't tell, I don't bite much, yeah?

[bigbadrose]

Really? That's lucky. I never know. Not until it's too late anyway, and even then it's not exactly a good reason.

Do you do things to tick off a lot of violent people, yeah?

[delicate_maiden]

[Kai grins.]

Got it! I don't bring up wolves and you don't bring up bears and it's a deal.

[Crap. Now she's the one bringing up bears. She waves her hands frantically as if she can somehow smack the words right out of the air and get rid of them.]

I mean-- nevermind about the bears! Forget it!

[Lea goes quiet at that. It's not a joking matter, the sort of things he had to do for the Organization. To the Organization. Will probably have to do again, if it comes to that.]
