Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ NAVY SHIPS! Cannon fire! Guns and explosions! It's a Pirates vs. Navy battle! **HINT: This might be a good one to try this time around... :D

Haven't decided yet. [Wry grin.] Just out of the way first, then to find my friend, and fix things.

[She looks down the alleyway.] Now before those angry soldier guys come back, I suggest we run.

[Namur roars with laughter. Man, he don't know who this other fishman is, and he clearly ain't a pirate. But he's funny as hell anyway. Namur throws a couple navy men over the edge with a quick shoulder charge, punches another in the face hard enough to break the rail as he goes overboard, then turns with a faked dubious expression.]

Y' even know what the hell keel-haulin' is, bro?

[room for one more?]

[it wasn't just Namur that chose now to reveal themselves. Indeed, it seemed that it was open season for nonhumans to start crowding around poor Asami. In particular, Blaze is standing on the other side of the fountain opposite Asami]

... It seems neither did I. Um, hello ma'am. And... fishman?

[om_nom_namur]

[Namur drops to his hands and swings his legs out and under a particularly twiggy soldier that had the gall to try firing a gun. He handsprings back onto his feet, then picks up the poor sap by an ankle, swings him one-handed into a pile of the twiggy man's mates, and lets go so they can all crash against the cabin wall.]

Sheheh ain't for everyone, give y' that! What's got these li'l shits all up in our face anyway?

[Blaze is responsibility and civil-minded by nature, so when she sees someone darting everywhere around the island, she's suspicious and decides to tail him.]

... I do not know who this Sora is, but I am wondering what you might be up to all the same, human.

[When the cries start ringing out aboard the ship of an enemy attack, Eska just sort of stands motionless with raised brows considering the approaching ship.]

It would seem they wish to board. This is an unacceptable thing?

[Pirates versus Navy battle? Well alright then. After the last pirate attack, Eska's cut her teeth on this whole concept of boarding ships and warfare.

It's nice to be a waterbender at sea, even if her abilities are vaguely muted. She's still fierce with her water whips and the other techniques she's managed to keep.]

[C]
[OOC: I'm up for whatever you folks can brew up. Hanging out on the ship? Docked somewhere? Telling Eska to lighten up? Idk, let's go for it. Consider this your catch all non-fighting prompt.]

[Namur rolls his eyes, pounding three men in succession into the deck.]

Grab a guy an' some rope an' I'll show y'.

[imashaaaaark]

[A group of men opened fire on him, their bullets hitting his reinforced hide and falling to the deck uselessly. He turns back to them in anger.]

Hey! I'm in the middle of a conversation, damn it! Rude bastards!

[He rips up a railing and knocks them away, but grabs one by the head and hauls him over. On the way he grabs up some line.]

[Asami is still too busy looking at the squirrels , but yes, her attention is soon diverted from that once she notices something rise up from the fountain at the corner of her eye. Er, or is a someone?

...What is that? She jolts back, keeping both her hands close to her chest once she catches a better glimpse at...whatever that thing is. Though judging from the all the blue, the sharp teeth, and the fin at the top of it's head, she can take a good guess as to what it is. The presense of another weird creature, this time resembling something like a purple fox, catches her off guard next.

She jolts back for a second time]

I—sorry! I didn't see you there. [A pause] I didn't see either of you.

[How does one even talk to a talking shark and fox?]

Damn, two pretty ladies. The hell'd I get up t' last night?

[Namur finally manages to work himself up to a kneeling position, still blushing like a damn moron.]

Either a y' know where we are? Think I forgot, sheheheh!

[om_nom_namur]

[King Shark gets a long-suffering humans, amirite? look from Namur as he takes one end of the rope in his hands.]

A'ight tread here a sec. Rope's got t' go under the ship for this t' work.

[And he dives in to the choppy water between the two ships, only to leap back on board on the other side of the navy ship less than a minute later. He ties his end of the rope to the railing there, then saunters through the fight which honestly didn't last long, back over to where King Shark has the unfortunate test subject.]

So what y' do is y' tie 'im up good so he can't get loose, right? Then we drop 'im in here [he points to the same place he disappeared earlier] an' haul 'im under the keel a the ship by pullin' on the rope there. [This time he points to the rope he tied to the rail on the other side of the ship.] Either we're too damn slow t' pull 'im up an' he drowns, or he scrapes 'long the barnacles an' shit stuck t' the hull an' loses half his skin if he's lucky. Maybe his arm or his head if he ain't.

[Namur then makes a gesture along the lines of feel free to do the honors, and starts back for the other end of the rope.]

Zoro | One Piece

[lost at sea? No big deal. Of course, he doesn't know he's lost. The ship got washed away. Yeah. Wasn't his fault. Ships get lost all the time.

Zoro is sitting on a chunk of wood, possibly once a door, legs folded, arms crossed, looking annoyed. If a friend picks him up, great. If a foe pulls alongside his makeshift raft, he might want their ship instead. It's nearly impossible to tell what he'll do.]

[Thank the spirits the island is back from the control of the Navy. Korra has most of the day to herself, though she does have to run a few errands. She and Naga are on their way to the market, cutting through the fountain square when-]

Asami?!

[No way... Korra jogs to her side, causing the squirrels to scatter.]

Did you just get here?

[selfabsorbed]

Aa...?

[ Regina glances over. Oh, right, that weird girl who was also fighting these guys. Since the Navy were the good guys, did that make her one of the bad guys? Regina no learn how this world works... although I guess it's p accurate in this case. ]

I'm not going to destroy the world right now. It takes time, even for me!

[selfabsorbed]

Mana...

[ This is Regina's best are-you-serious face. ]

That doesn't sound fun at all!

[burning_blaze]

[Cat. Blaze is a cat.]

... You did not get up to anything, sir. [she shoots him an annoyed glance] ... My apologies, ma'am. I did not mean to startle you.

[she bowed a bit]

My name is Princess Blaze the Cat... guardian of the Sol Emeralds. And you two are...?

[Man, that was a crazy way to take someone down. Truth be told, torture was never his forte'. Odd, considering how many humans he'd eaten, but that was different. It was over quick, and a lot of those guys were assholes.]

Uh...That sounds...kinda' gross.

[ Perona's been out at sea for what seems like forever. All alone. Her ship was small, more of a personal sailboat than a ship, but she wasn't going to complain. She didn't particularly like the island she had shown up on, and she'd take whatever she could get to get her to another island.

An island with more personality, she hoped.

During this sea voyage, she spotted a figure afloat on nothing more than a piece of wood. She steered closer - after all, she might like to seem that way, but she wasn't totally heartless.




But when she got closer, she saw that person was Zoro.


And she was sorely tempted to just keep sailing past. ]

[feel that stare, Perona? Zoro has spotted the little sail of her ship, and the pink here, and oh hell no not her again. Hence, the dread staring from across the water.]

What.

... Eh? But... even if you lose, you get to spend time with me! Isn't that a good thing?

[hoooow could this not work? It alway worked with students...]

[ How she wished she could pretend she hadn't seen him. Keep moving on.

But her ship was already approaching him - close enough for him to actually get aboard. She didn't look too pleased with that.

But he's also close enough for them to talk now. ] You're fine, right? You've got a raft.

Ah- If I see Straw Hat, I'll send him your way, all right? [ That's good enough, right? ]
