[Someone -- a very smart someone -- sees his death coming. The teeth and bloody mouth spell the end, and he tries to run. Which is when he's truly lost. He goes down in front of Kidd and has time to shoot one single look up at the man, one that pleads for death, before the thing is on him.
Seconds later, Alex sits up, still straddling the corpse. His eyes are fixed open, staring at the sky with an expression of true horror, and his throat is mauled. Not cut, no. Nothing so humane. It looks like an animal did it.
And there's fresh blood around Alex's mouth, her canines elongated and sharpened to a wicked point. There's no humor, no laughter and light, in her eyes as she looks up at Kidd. It's a positively wild expression -- the wolf deciding whether it's still hungry. But some sense returns, and she pushes herself to her feet, licking her lips as she does it.]
