In my world, those who needed help asked for it. "Heroes" like myself -- that is, individuals who are talented enough in their skills to be trusted -- were sanctioned by the king to travel the world and assist both civilians and Alliance outposts. We were paid for our work in gold and sometimes supplies, and while we still had to obey the orders given to us by the king or his high-ranking generals, we were otherwise allowed to wander independently and do what we wished.

Most preferred to just go from place to place and help out where they were needed. Some attacked the Horde -- the opposing side -- wherever they could. In general, however, I hadn't seen anyone abusing their power or doing anything to hurt people as a whole.
