Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[now Gintoki is not about crazy shirtless dudes talking to parrots, but. TREASURE.

so he walks out of the bushes and waves his hand]

Hey! Hey! The old man over there!

[Motochika twitches.] Excuse me? Do you have any idea who you're addressing?

[He probably doesn't. But he should. And he will.

[parfaitsamurai]

[looks him up and down]

No, not really. Are you one of those B*sara guys? Don't put your gun on here, alright, I'm not looking for that kind of stuff.

[Unless it gets more revenue. wait, was that a BEEP? where did the BEEP come from? Gintoki moves past it before you can ask]

Either way, I could hear you are in search of treasure, and let me tell you, you've come to the right person. I am an expert treasure digger!

If you want to join the crew of the great Sea Devil of the West, first you're going to have to start treating me with the proper respect. If that proves too much for you, maybe I'll ignore that smart mouth of yours if you actually dig me up some treasure.

[He hefts his anchor and settles it across his shoulders, letting the chain rattle ominously.] Maybe.

Hey, what about me? How do you know I'm not some prince or emperor who's come by hard times and is forced to dig treasures for a living? I could use some respect too, you know!

[tho the anchor is making him nervous. a little] E-Either way, I'm the best at digging out treasures, but first they need to be found!

[seadevil]

You could be the god of this island for all I care! If all you're going to do is stand there and bellyache, I don't give a damn who you are. [He's getting louder and louder, tensing and gritting his teeth.]

I have a whole crew of men searching this island for treasure. If you want to earn your keep, you'll go have a look yourself!

[parfaitsamurai]

[walks over a few steps, and starts digging comfortably under a shady palm tree.]

Heeeey, Eyepatch-san, could you give me a hand, here? I think I found something!

[seadevil]

Really? [He sounds skeptical, but he strolls over to have a look, anyway.] What is it?

[parfaitsamurai]

[makes a ta-da hand gesture]

Treasure.

[it's a bunch of pirate-like costume items]

[seadevil]

[Motochika looks at his parrot. The parrot looks at Motochika. Together, they both look at the "treasure," then up at Gintoki.]

I...well...suppose we could have a look...[He drops down and starts to sort through the trea--no, it's crap. It is. It really is. Even the parrot won't look at it.]

Why...just...

[There are no words.]

Captain, I think it's really useful! You could use this [shows him this] when the other gets dirty! Or this [pulls out this shirt] when you really want to threaten your enemies!

[Motochika considers the items. Is this bastard mocking him? He's mocking him, isn't he? If he's mocking him, he probably shouldn't admit that he'd actually wear those things. What's wrong with wanting to wear them? That shirt especially would match well with a cape of his and...damn it all.]

I'm not saying it's all bad, it's only...mostly bad.

[He nonchalantly (he hopes) takes the eyepatch and the shirt. He'll be keeping those. Just try to make a smart comment about it.]
