Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

And that would be you, I assume. [he bends a tree branch idly out of the way] How many men strong are you?

We're a middling crew, sad to say. I've been gathering stalwart men where I find them, but it's hard when you no longer have the reputation you deserve. [He frowns and adjusts the massive anchor he carries over his shoulder.] Can't say as I enjoy having to start over from scratch.

Aye, I know how that is. I come from a crew of 1600 under the strongest man in the sea, but he didn't make it. [And Davey Jones should thank his luck for that]

But for the people from elsewhere, I'd say we have near the biggest crew, adding strong guys every day. Why fight when you can ally, am I right?

[seadevil]

Heh, can't say as I agree with that. I'm always up for a good fight. [And a bit choosier about allies nowadays.]

Problem with fights is, if you win, you're golden. But you can only get obliterated once.

[seadevil]

Then just don't lose! Obliterate them first! That's why we need to dig up this treasure. The firepower of the ships they sell here is pathetic and I have quite a few upgrades in mind.

Oh? What kind of upgrades?

[seadevil]

Trade secret! If I told you, it would ruin the surprise! [He doubts he'll be able to manage anything quite the scale of his beautiful Fugaku, but a Rising Sun might be doable. Or he could just equip his ship with flamethrowers and bigger cannons, but that wouldn't be nearly as exciting as a proper mechanical monstrosity.]

Wise choice. Until someone beats the tar out of you, steals it, and makes it better.

[he knew several people who could do that. None of them here.]

But I suppose that's the way of the sea, aye? Keeps you on your toes.

[seadevil]

I wouldn't know! I've met one or two who could do the former, but there's none who could do the latter. Steal it, aye, but improve it? Never. [Motochika puffs up with pride, even more than usual.]

Hell of a weapon that can't be improve. I don't know whether to be terrified or impressed. [though he doesn't really sound either] Make it yourself, did you?

Of course! It's a hobby of mine, inventing this and that. "This and that" being the most fearsome weapons you'll ever have the misfortune of facing down, of course! [He laughs at his own joke? Was it a joke? Well, he's laughing at himself anyway.]
