Looking out of place was a pretty common among the newcomers in town square. After all, they were all literally out of place. But some people particularly stood out. Especially such a regal looking young woman. The ornate gown, accessories, she seemed to step right out of the Imperial Court of Japan's Asuka Era. And she was absolutely lost.

But probably most noticeable was that (in spite of the linked image) she had no damn legs. That definitely wasn't normal.

I had only ever seen the sea in my youth. Being surrounded by it now, it feels as if it might swallow me whole at any moment. It is both beautiful, and deeply frightening. And to be here without my prince... But for her sake, I will be strong. After all, what sort of retainer would I be if I cowered on that island?

Though it makes me wonder... how many among you had ever seen the ocean before arriving in this realm? Do you have any advice for coping with this, ah... "sea sickness"?

I've found there's little to be done, ma'am, but weather it. Stay on deck. It's far worse if you go below.

[He has too much experience with seasickness himself.]

Is that really all there is to be done? One would think out of sight, out of mind would work.

The air is stale below deck, and confined the ship seems to rock even more. Fresh air and an eye on the horizon helps, but other than that... One can only wait to grow accustomed to the movement.

An unfortunate setback... Damnable rocking. Well, I thank you for your help, none the less. I am Soga no Tojiko, chief retainer of the Crown Prince of All Japan, Toyosatomimi no Miko.

Commander [no one needs to know that rank was technically taken away from him, it answers well enough here] Horatio Hornblower of His Britannic Majesty's Royal Navy.

I'm sorry I couldn't provide a more satisfactory answer.

You at least responded, and did not tease me for my lack of experience. That much I appreciate.

Many experienced seamen still suffer from such a thing. It isn't something to worry about.

Well it's certainly unpleasant, regardless.

It certainly is. I'm sorry you have to suffer it.

And suffer it alone, at that...

Ah, well... I am here without my prince. It feels a bit hallow, to be a retainer without her. -"prince". "her". just don't ask.-

If it is an uneasy stomach you have, tea with ginger would help settle it. But I do not know where we may find ginger. There are other herbs that may help as well... but, sources are still lacking.

You also chose this method, so why not use it in kind? It is quite amazing magic, do you not agree?
