Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[The voice certainly gives him a start. He jumps, fumbling for the knife he kept sheathed along the small of his back, and then relaxed, realizing that it was some kid.

Seeing as the lad was right, Gibbs leaned forwards more, squinting as he tried to make his bleary eyes focus on the words.]

It looks to be a poem of some kind. [he finally added half way through reading it. His face changed from one of casual pondering to one of outright fright once he reached the bottom of it.}

It can't be. He's dead!

[ Recognition? ]

Who's dead?

[Gibbs glances to the lad, wondering if he is daft.] Davy Jones!

Maybe where you're from. You'll soon find out the laws of reality you thought you knew might be completely different for someone else.

I can already tell you're probably from the nineteenth or eighteenth century-I'm the the twenty first. Though, there is room for some error considering.

[superstitiouspirate]

[There is a long pause as Gibbs does his best to sort through what the kid just said to him. Reality being different in other places actually isn't a new concept, given what he knows and where he has been.]

Aye that may be true.

[He ignores the mentioning of centuries for the moment, though the youth was correct. He was indeed from the mid 18th century, as his dress and manner of speech might suggest.]

Were we're from has nothing to do with where we are, that much is the truth. What I am wanting to know is how this happened and why.
[He has a sneaking suspicion that killing off Jones might have something to do with it.]

That much I can't really help you with. All I know on that front is we've been dropped here and are expected to find fragments of a jewel and once all the fragments are put together we'll, supposedly, get a wish granted.

[superstitiouspirate]

[That was no worse than any other venture he'd been on as of late. He squinted in thought however.]

One wish or one wish for all who put it together? Or one wish total?
