Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for
high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Supplies like food, food like Squall. He stares at him again, but tries to brush it off.]
... seriously, internet? Just gonna go and eat my tag like that...?
[Not good, at all. Especially because he needs to be home now. They're in the middle of a war... with...
He's being stared at, again. Frowning just a bit, but speaking in a calmly firm tone.]
What...?
Internet: *nomnomnom*
[Natsuno looks away.]
It's nothing. Sorry. I'm just...hungry.
pfft.. XD
[Cocks his head to the side just a bit, and gives a momentary eyebrow lift.]
... I see.
( I don't entirely get it, but whatever... )
[He places a hand on his hip and looks to the side, pausing a moment, before "asking" Natsuno if he needs help. The tone is harsh, but the intentions aren't.]
... If you need help, just say it.
[Because, why else would he be standing there, that hungry. He could have said something, earlier, if he needs to go eat that badly. Even though he may not have Gil on him--hell, does this place even take that currency?--he knows how to hunt for food. Survival training--part of being a proper mercenary.]

It will be fine. There's a place to eat a little further in town.
[Natsuno seems to be struggling a little bit, but he's got himself under control for the most part. It was stupid of him not to bring any extra snacks off the ship.]

Then brunette pauses a moment to look to the side, arms folded across his chest, eyes narrowing. Since this guy's been here for about a month...
Squall looks back to the stranger.]
That... [How the hell should he describe that thing?] ... green ghost... [Good enough.]
Was it telling the truth about looking for ...treasure, or whatever? [Seriously, that's a stupid reason to summon a random allotment of people into a town. He silently prays to Hyne that it's not true.]

[Natsuno nods a bit a the description, a ghost was a good enough attempt. It's not like they knew much about it.]

( A different island. That means there's no trouble leaving this place. Maybe I'll be able to get back home with a ship, then. I guess I'll just have to see. Of course, that's assuming I get a ship... )
[Sighing after that last thought, he puts a hand to his forehead.]
( I guess I could ask this guy about that... )
[He doesn't want to. Looking to the side, again--yeah, he does this a lot, Natsuno--for a moment, he continues his thoughts.]
( After that, though, I'll need to figure it all out, myself. If I become reliant on another person, I'll more than likely end up stuck here. In the end, we can only trust ourselves. )
[Looking back to Natsuno, he has a slight neutral expression on his face, in spite of the hint of struggle in his eyes.]
How do I get a ship?

Well, you can join a crew, or you can get your own I believe. Down at the shipyard. They teach you how to sail it.
