See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
B!
Piers glanced up from his own work at Ivan's question and offered a sheepish smile in reply.]
That would be the Lash Pebble. Besides that, there aren't many more options other besides what you're doing right now.
[It was unfortunate too. The Lash Pebble was one of the few things around that could help inexperienced adepts learn the basics. Once more, he rued the fact that he couldn't find it.]
omg i had totally forgotten about the lash pebble. piers don't hog that thing, we'll lose the game
That's right, I'd almost forgotten about that thing. But I meant more like... [gestures encompassingly] all the ropes in general. Even with the Lash Pebble, you'd have to use it on each individual knot. Lemurian ships are so much more efficient.
we'll lose it anyway because we don't have it!
[It was interesting to adjust to, for sure.]
But there are still some similarities. The steering is the same, and sails do help immensely with propulsion. The main difference is that this system is so complicated...
[He laughed a little.] There's still alot of things that I need to learn myself. [Which was ironic, given how he was nominated the captain of their humble vessel solely because of his experience.]
It's a learning process for us all, but we think differently and might see something that the others don't. [Like Reveal. It's very revealing.] Don't discount anything.
Practice is the only thing that can help you with the knots for now. But-- [He reached out and placed a roughened, practiced hand on top of the current knot.] Don't rush. You will only hurt yourself if you're hasty, which won't help anyone here.
oh nooooooooooooo
It's all right. My hands could use some toughening up, anyway.
[They're not as soft as they used to be - when he'd first set out, he'd gotten blisters just from using a sword. But he doesn't have sailor hands by any means.]
WE'LL SURVIVE
You're hands will toughen up in time. It's no reason to rush right now. You've many other skills that will be helpful around here, after all.
no, this is a bug hunt, game over man, game over!!
[Understanding and accepting compliments are, needless to say, not among his skills.]
