Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Natsuno can look just as unimpressed and irritable to boot.]

It's not difficult. The Captain isn't going to let anyone sit around and do nothing.

[dragonbadfaith]

I didn't get on board this ship to... [Waves a hand at the sails in a dismissive gesture.] Do ship things.

[reluctantjinrou]

And yet you're here. [He gives him a level glare. It's not his job to babysit this guy.]

[dragonbadfaith]

Yes, well, there wasn't suitable housing back at that island. The whole place was filthy, did you see?

[reluctantjinrou]

I saw it.

[Natsuno isn't going to dispute that, the island wasn't a place they could stay.]

However, you have to do your part. It isn't hard to do and in the time you've argued with me, we could be finished.

[dragonbadfaith]

I don't have to do anything. [Huffs.] That's what house-elves are for.

[He's already been informed (by someone whose name he's already forgotten, and who was giving him a very strange look) that there aren't any house-elves on the ship, though. Honestly, how do these people even survive day to day?

Well, since muggles are useless, they obviously need him. He pulls out his wand.]

Alright fine, what exactly is it you can't manage to do on your own?

[reluctantjinrou]

No one here is an elf.

[Natsuno moves over to the sail and with a bit of effort, gets the rope untied.]

Need to adjust the sail about thirty degrees away from me.

[dragonbadfaith]

...Yes, obviously. I think I would have noticed the great pointy ears.

[Makes no move to help with that rope, but he does point his wand at the sail after, muttering some spell under his breath that will totally do what Natsuno said!]

There, happy? Now that I've done your work for you...

[reluctantjinrou]

[Natsuno doesn't dignify that with a response, moving instead to retie the rope properly.]

Thanks.

[He says only when he's finished.]

[dragonbadfaith]

...

[Hmph. Dismiss him, will you? No, no. Draco does the dismissing here. Which means now he has to force the conversation to continue so that he can be the one to end it later. :|]

So what did that accomplish, exactly?

[reluctantjinrou]

[Natsuno is not a big fan of conversation though, and it takes a lot to get him willing to talk to someone. He does however hoist himself up on the railing to sit. He briefly ponders removing his winter jacket, since it's really not winter there.]

It changes the direction the boat sails in.

[dragonbadfaith]

[Pointedly takes an exaggerated look around.]

Oh, good. So now we're sailing toward that great big nothing instead.

[reluctantjinrou]

[There's something about him that just pisses Natsuno off. He frowns at him, scowling.]

Well when you're captain, you can make the decisions, can't you?

[dragonbadfaith]

I don't know why I'm not captain already, honestly. I suspect it's because I'm new, but no matter. I'll move up the ranks quickly enough.

I doubt it.
