Test Drive for October 2013 Apps

Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for [community profile] high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

See you during the application round!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Briefly spent on the matter of what he just said, Dave recognized that he asked that question out loud. No, rather--that didn't matter. This guy obviously didn't see the three people who would invariably be the butt of some sort of 'So and So walked into a bar...' joke.

It was a fairly big deal to him, but beggars couldn't be choosers.]

Ignore that weird thing I just said. S'up.

Um... okay? [He could have sworn you said "a dead girl," and that is legit worrying. But he will go ahead and assume he heard wrong. The benefit of the doubt is strong with this one.]

Do you have any idea what's happening? Nobody seems to know how we got here.

Sorry to say, I'm clueless too.

[At least he wasn't the only one. Glancing around with a bit more focus behind his sweet shades, Dave regarded the poor and destitute little section of town around him with more and more scrutiny.]

Though, I guess I should bounce.

[So, Dave just sort of rose up into the air, flying. After about fifty or sixty feet, he plummeted--bouncing off of a rooftop and then rolling over back onto the street and cobblestones. He laid there, staring up at the sky.

...That did not just happen.]

[Ivan's a bit startled at the sudden lifdoff - in his world that is a very specialized power that damn near nobody has! So he just... watches...

... until the guy starts descending in a way that very much resembles uncontrolled freefall. Eyes wide, he bolts in that direction, but Dave makes his singularly elegant landing before he gets in range to attempt a rescue. Ivan has to stop and wince at the sound, but then resumes running. Oh god oh god oh god.

So yeah, in just a few seconds he's standing by your lifeless corpse - oh wait no you're alive, he can still sense your mind there. Buuut that is not much comfort since he just saw you fall sixty feet and eat shit on the pavement.]

Are you all right?!

[Dave had been much more durable than that. Getting punched in the face and stomach several times and being kicked down a staircase couldn't keep him down. Being juggled like a ragdoll for a solid minute couldn't keep him down. A mixture of the two, though, probably had a fairer chance than the two events separately.

He rolled onto his side a moment before standing up and dusting himself off. The whole point was to avoid acknowledging the whole thing and just continuing on with his life as if he didn't just make himself look like a total shit-heel.]

I'm cool. So, maybe I should ask more questions.

[Dude it's too late for that. Ivan is equally baffled by the durability itself and by the total lack of even acknowledging that just happened. Unfortunately, this leaves him with the choice of whether to press the issue and sound like a fool, or pretend it never happened and let it keep bugging him indefinitely.

Insatiable curiosity, thou art a cruel mistress.]

... All right. But I have a few for you, too, while we're at it.
