Dirk will probably try to ask her to join his crew, but getting him to back down from his captain stance would put them at a disagreement.

I was just thinking of this, yes! She would settle for some kind of joint captain-ship position, or at least a place as commander for Squarewave since Dirk seems like a fairly interesting fellow so far. Is that something he would compromise for, or does he have someone else in mind?

He's got someone else in mind for a First Mate, but he'd be willing to put her in charge of babysitting Squarewave and making sure he doesn't get wet if that'd be enough to bribe her with, and taking any of her suggestions into account when making decisions, so she could be unofficial commander

Squarewave is an exceptionally good bribe especially since Codi has experience maintaining electronics as pets...it would take some convincing, but seeing as Dirk already has her attention, this could definitely work! I won't promise that Codi won't be really pushy sometimes and butt heads with him if she's in one of her more stubborn moods, but honestly she would do that regardless of if Dirk is captain or not.
