Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ NAVY SHIPS! Cannon fire! Guns and explosions! It's a Pirates vs. Navy battle! **HINT: This might be a good one to try this time around... :D

[Moving on scene is a small sailboat, its only sailor - a single armored figure - doing the navigating on the dock.] What manner of disaster happened here?

[Crescent Rose spins, easily deflecting the warning shot before she sends the pole into the gut of a navy officer behind her... who is subsequently put unceremoniously through a nearby window.]

Whoa, whoa! Hold the phone here, I am NOT a--

[She pauses as she sees Blaze.

She just stares blankly for a few seconds.

That ... that wasn't a Faunus. That was a...]

...OMIGOSHAKITTY! A TALKING KITTY!

[Were she more self aware of her own reaction, perhaps she would be glad Blake wasn't here to see this.]

[Zoro raises his head, and his un-scarred eyebrow, at being addressed]

The ship I was on got lost. Who wants to know?

...that probably wasn't a Faunus either. It didn't really matter though, because THESE guys were trying to kill her, and HE wasn't.]

Oh! Wow, yeah! The more the merrier, just gimme a--

[An incoming shot is dodged in a flash of rose petals as Ruby seemingly vanishes from sight, reappearing a few feet away, flipping Crescent Rose end over end as it transformed and collapsed into a rather hefty looking sniper rifle that she levels towards the navy officer that just tried to shoot her.

One shot later, HIS gun is gone, and she has her weapon flipped back out into scythe mode.]

--seeeeeecond, there we go!

[She sounds mighty chipper in spite of all this.]

... I... what?!

[Blaze's eyes widened and she took a step back]

What does that have to do with anything?! I'm your enemy!

[THERE SURE ARE A LOT OF ANIMAL PEOPLE HERE... is probably one of Ruby's first thoughts.

Sorry, she knows it's rude to stare but does anyway.]

...aaaaaaaah, yeah, yeah, sure!

[Still staring at the bubble.

Before she finally realizes it IS rude, and her eyes dart away sheepishly.]

[She scoops up a couple of guys in her path with her scythe and at least flings them out of the way for the moment.]

Kiiiiiiiiiinda what I'm wondering right now.

BUT YOU'RE SO CUTE AND ADORABLE AND--

[She stops, Blaze's words sinking in.]

Wait, wait, wait! Why're you with these jokers?! They're trying to attack me and I haven't even done anything!

[seakingbait]

[Bro at least you're not staring at her tail. Or her chest. Seriously you humans act like you've never seen a mermaid before.

She grins, carefully pouring her a cup.]

Be careful, it's hot!

[burning_blaze]

[Blaze narrowed her eyes and got back into a fighting pose]

They are the peacekeepers of this world. I find that very hard to believe...

They're really, really bad at their job, then! I just got here! I don't even know where "here" is!

[SHE HASN'T. I mean, she's seen people with animal parts, that's normal. Just not a mermaid.]

Ah, thanks! You ... wouldn't happen to have any sugar, would you?

[... Blaze pauses, easing up a little]

... They attacked you? Out of the blue?

[Still keeping his weapons up] So you were just attacking people for no reason? Let me inform you that the local authority is already ill disposed toward any "newcomers" and this is hardly a good first impression to them. Or to me.

[She watches him leave and vanish, feeling rather intrigued. She kind of hopes she'll see him again sometime.

With a shrug, she looks down at the journal in her hand. It's probably wise to take his advice, right? Now, to find a quiet area...]

[What? It's not like she has cat ears. That would be ridiculous.]

Oh, of course! I'll go get some.

[And the bubble just... starts floating away!]

Well I don't usually fight people. I've only fought a few, I think. But I fight the heartless, even when there's a lot of them. It should be okay, right?

[Roxas has to jump back a bit and he brings one of his keyblades down on one private and uses the other to pivot and skid behind the next. He's experienced, if nothing else.]

MEOWMEOWMEEEOOOOWWW!!!

[ With that exclamation, Taokaka leaps out of bed quite literally, landing with... a distinct lack of feline grace. She's not down for long, though-- she quickly recomposes herself, and scowls at her "captain". ]

Do you have any idea what time it is, loud man?!

Vigilance is a commendable trait but I'm failing to see what makes it so urgent now. [As it turns out Justice does not go so far as to sleep in armor; he stands dully blinking with drab undershirt and briefs]

Well, knowledge could help in recapturing said boat. But at this point I think you'd consider yourself well-off with just passage to land.

[Regardless, Namur slams himself into some mook, clotheslines another, then drops his hands to the ground and kicks another guy in the face with his bare feet, sending him through a nearby wall.]

[Formal matters take priority, delaying his impending commentary on her choice, though it's certainly brewing. Her skills are invaluable -- it would be a waste to lose her to a foolish accident.]

[Henry shifts his weight and places his hands on his hips, considering her report. He comes to a rapid decision.]

[His breeding prevents him from further comment, but his temperament allows the incredulity to colour his tone. He places a hand on his hip and dips his head, considering, before he shifts his weight and looks her directly in the eye.]

It serves us ill to linger. Come along, if it should suit you.

[He's impatient to get moving, but on the other hand, abandoning her doesn't rest easily on him. They are involved in the same fight, for better or worse.]

I'm a shark. Shouldn't any self-respecting shark have a healthy appetite?

[He lets loose with a raucous burp, strong enough for her to feel it through the ground. For a moment he wobbles ever so slightly.]

Ugh...

[After a moment of shaking his head, whatever it was seems to have cleared.]

Not bad! Those have a real kick to 'em.
