Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

We need a bigger crew. We have four people on our ship right now. It's boring. So I'm recruiting.

((He thinks for a moment about how to phrase the next sentence, hand going to his chin.)) You looked... un-boring. Also you need a makeover, so I sort of felt compelled to talk to you.

[Only four people?

He can't say that's not a legitimate enough reason to be asking around. That could also mean that the ship is quiet, considering the lack of crowd.

There's not a chance in hell he's going out to sea by himself. But, he's not going to join just any crew.]

Okay so. I laughed WAY too hard at that...

[getspunched]

[Then. He hears the last part; and, suddenly, his face tenses.]

What?

[He lets out a sigh.] Tch. How I look doesn't matter.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce Kaoru Hitachiin. XD

[totheright]

((What. What. He'll try not to look too shocked.)) But you have potential! And your appearance does matter! How does it not? A man is nothing if not well-dressed! The apparel oft proclaims the man!

((Okay deep breaths. Deeeeep breaths. This is not how he remembers Tamaki recruiting him.)) I mean. I guess. ...it's a thing I'm into. Making clothes. That is. Never mind.

This is why he was always one of my favorite characters in the series. XD

[getspunched]

[Er.

Yeah, okay. He's been forced into in a suit, before. And, in his opinion, it completely hadn't suited him, at all (what had been going through the leader's mind, at the time, he'll never know).]

...

[He definitely won't be agreeing to a make-over, anytime soon. But, he can agree to one thing.]

Look, I have no intention of changing how I look. But-- [Pause.] --where's the rest of your crew?

[It seems they need his help, as much as he needs to hurry and get back home. He can, at the very least, check it out, right?]

He has that tendency to worm his way into your heart. :')

[totheright]

((But Kaoru. Kaoru has every intention of changing how this guy looks. Siiiigh.)) They're on the Antoinette. Or - well - they're probably scattered out around this island right now. We... really want to recruit.

((Kaoru looks away, biting his lip.)) Either having a bigger crew will help us get home faster or... there'll be someone here who, um. I guess I've been waiting for. You know what I mean. The pirate thing get old fast.

I see...

[Steel-colored eyes calmly rest on the stranger as he silently studies him for a moment.

First things, first.]

What's your name?

[totheright]

Kaoru Hitachiin. ((He gives the stranger a smile, lifting his chin.)) You?

[getspunched]

Shinjiro Aragaki. [Stated in a calm tone, neutral expression resting on his face.]

...So, where's this ship located?

[totheright]

Aragaki-kun! Pleasure to meet you. ((He gives a salute, which - as he spins around - turns into a gesture towards port.)) Our ship is docked over there.

((He's about to run off when he hesitates and turns back to Aragaki.)) And, uh. I guess. If you were... with someone from your world or something, I guess I should let you know. They won't know you're gone. The people back home, I mean.

[getspunched]

[He looks in the direction pointed.]

Alright.

[He starts that way, until he hears the next part. Wait, what?]

What do you mean?

[Furthermore, how does he know that?]

[totheright]

I mean that people back home don't notice you're gone, according to some guy here who seems to know more than we do. ((He gestures vaguely, then shrugs.)) So... if you're worrying about leaving people behind, you're not actually leaving anyone behind.

[getspunched]

How is that...even possible?

[Then, he thinks about it for a moment. How is the Dark Hour possible? How is half of the things he's seen, in his lifetime so far, possible? Well, there's no point exhausting his mind trying to figure it out--not without, first, learning more about this place, at least. It's still strange, though. Knowing that there's a chance nobody, back home, even realizes he's gone.

Maybe that means he's been split off into another time-line, he questions with just a bit of sarcasm. Because, really, it's starting to seem like a bad sci-fi movie, now.]

Well, whatever. [He abruptly adds, directly after his question.] There's no point stressing over it.

[With that, he's going to start walking.]

What guy, though?

Weird stuff happens. ((He shrugs again.)) You get used to it, around here. There's a guy named Scurvey Dog - apparently he's been there since the beginning and he gives out, like, the closest equivalent to advice that we get. He's not too bad, I guess. I've never talked to him much, but my friend does.
