See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Ah...I'm not from here, definitely! And...yourself? Are you here for a convention?

[Not Orliesian. Wrong accent. But one he couldn't place, either.
Surana's accent was what those from outside Thedas would likely label a 'generic Enligsh' one.]
I simply found myself here when I awoke. I was in Ferelden before. And while the people here speak similarly to those from my home, this is not any island or port town within it's borders.

Sydni blinked in confusion and reached his fingers up toward his ears, not quite touching them.]
Yes. Why wouldn't they be real?

Actually, I'm an elf. We're people, just like humans, who happen to have ears that are pointed instead of rounded. I know it may be odd to you, having never seen it before, but they're very real. If someone has put fake ones on for this... 'cosplaying', then that was very rude of them.
no subject
Why do you think it would have been rude? Imitation is the highest form of flattery. A lot of people cosplay because they are inspired by what they've seen or read, and it holds a special place in their hearts. I could understand if they were being rude purposely while cosplaying, but usually they aren't.

I didn't realize humans could sink lower than they have in their treatment of my kind. I am disgusted to learn I was wrong.
no subject
But for you to judge them so quickly without even seeing first hand of what they do is pretty low, don't you think? You really don't have such a right, since you've never been to my home world.

[This time he yelled and he didn't care to try and keep his voice low.]
Do not try to lecture me on what is disrespectful, human. You know nothing of what elves have to go through every day at the hands of your kind. Pretending you do, pretending to be an elf, is outright...
[He snarled, unable to form the words for how angry that made him, and drew his sword, which sparked with electricity.]
Never speak to me again. And if I find you or any other human playing at 'being a knife-ear', I will cut your - and their - ears off. Then you can play pretend at being round eared again all you want.
no subject
I'm not a human, first off. Second... [He wants to continue, but sighs, waving a hand dismissively.] It's obvious that there are vast differences between your world and mine. There's no real point in arguing about it if all you're going to do is draw out your sword. If humans are as bad as you say, then I'm sorry they treated you poorly.
[He did catch the apparent slur they use. Knife-ear? That's just cruel. So he just walks past him, not caring if he got electrocuted or stabbed.]
I won't speak to you again, if that's what you want, but I hope to learn more about...whatever you went through.
no subject
[He said the words with scorn, but sheathed his sword, turning to leave in the other direction.]
Do both of us a favor and just leave well enough alone.
