[Town Square]

[On the upside, there wasn't much to get used to. The memories of this land trickled into his conscious mind soon after arrival, reminding him of who he'd known and what he'd done in his time here. If he could be plucked from this place, then no doubt others had in his absence. He briefly wondered if the boy was still here amongst them.]

Here, once again? How droll. I'd been hoping for a bit of relaxation, and now it seems I have to start all over again.

[He cast a disdainful eye on the various passerby.]

I see the decor is no less distasteful than when I left.


[On the Ship]

Not up to my standards, but I suppose it'll have to do.

[He stomped his foot a few times on the deck to test it, then ran a hand over the railings on the side of the ship. Filthy. This was entirely unacceptable for a ship that was just starting out.]

I certainly hope you know how to keep things clean around here. We have an image to uphold and I find myself entirely unsatisfied with the state of this vessel. It needs a scrub from aft to stern.

[he's loaded down with a couple of large bags and a crate of supplies, but the cook who loaded him is nowhere in sight. But of course. He just sort of traipses along and blunders into people without thinking]

[Luckily, he's tall enough to clear the stack if he leans over. He blows out a puff of smoke, peering over at the man with a cocked eyebrow.]

Another associate of the Strawhat boy. I see that my stay here will once again be plagued by him and his ilk.

[that voice. He drops everything and stares right back]

I was already pulled here against my will once, I did not wish for it to happen again.

Yeah, well. I'm pretty sure not of us wanted that either. [so, so deadpan]

I see you're doing the work of a simple laborer. Fitting. You do seem to have the mentality of a beast of burden.

What a handicap it must be, to have no viable skills beyond swinging a sword. At least Mihawk has a brain to go with his brawn.

Zoro bristles, and his hand rests ever-so-subtly on Wadou Ichimonji's hilt]

Yeah? Something tells me you're a bit behind the times, Croc. At least Hawk-Eyes was smart enough never to get his ass thrown in Impel Down.

And I got out of Impel Down, along with many others. Perhaps it is you who should get up to speed.

[Satisfied for the moment, he slowly moves out of the way.]

I see. Well, I suppose I'll have to greet him at some point, won't I? On your way, then.

[Elissa was crossing the square after making some purchases up the way at Backwater Brig. Though her thoughts were elsewhere, it was easy for the sight of an extremely tall man to pull her from them. And then? She recognized him.]

You. [One word, yet it said so much. Denial. Anger. Frustration. Old scores? Pausing, Elissa calmly put down her package and then straightened to look up at Crocodile.]

...Ah. I recall you. I was on board the same ship as you, correct? How is the old Captain doing? I trust he looks as much a filthy bilge-rat as ever.

[elissacousland]

He has disappeared much the same as you did, ser. [She tilted her head as she looked up at him and then crooked a finger at the man in an effort to get him to lean downward. Ser Crocodile was far too tall for discreet conversation.]

[He raised an eyebrow at this gesture, wondering if he should comply. Did she have some sort of useful information she couldn't say in public?]

What? What do you want?

[elissacousland]

[Elissa gave him a look.] You are as tall as an ogre. That tends to make communication difficult unless we wish for the entire town square to hear what is being said.

Unless this is sensitive information, does it matter who knows? It depends on what you wish to tell me.

[And the look devolves into exasperation.]

I was going to tell you that I might have actually missed you when you disappeared, you overgrown bastard, but now I have a clearer memory of just how maddening you can be.

[She sent a playful, backhanded swat toward his midsection.]

[Remember that time Smoker was stuck in Crocodile's prison, and he had this shocked face of all "YOU?!" Yeah. Same!]

[You'd think he'd stop being surprised by things like this eventually.]
