See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[SNATCHING THAT CUP]
I've just been dead a few thousand years, is all.
[And swigging it down all in one go before picking right up where she left off.]
Sorry, I'm being really rude. Name's Murasa.
no subject
[WHAT IS GOING ON HERE]
Takao. And how can you be here if you're dead?
[sorry she comes from a land of SCIENCE and did not cover much fiction in her research]
no subject
[A dismissive wave of her hand, like it's no big deal. Except that it kind of is. But she's talking about it, see? She's trying!]
My turn for a question. How'd you end up here?
no subject
[PROCESSING... although definitely not realizing if you're hung up about something to become a ghost, it's probably a big deal]
That's what I'm trying to figure out. I can't connect to the Joint Tactical Network or hack into even basic GPS... or rather, everything around me is telling me those sorts of things don't even exist in this place.
no subject
Signal interference got you too, huh?
[She puts the cup down on the counter and it's more or less immediately whisked away to be replaced with a full one.]
You might find it on the next island. Or the next. Or after that. They keep telling me that too.
no subject
[She is vastly overestimating the number of users they have...]
I'm grateful to be out from under that hag's thumb but it does me even less good to be stuck here!
[Sigh. HOW IS SHE SUPPOSED TO REUNITE WITH GUNZOU HERE]
no subject
The ocean's a pretty big place. It takes awhile to find things, even preposterously large ones. Like, say, a flying ship that doubles as a temple.
no subject
[Then again, she's talking to a ghost. A ghost who can apparently imbibe liquids]
Have you seen something like that?
no subject
[tl;dr: Touhou]
I'm the captain of it. Before it, you know, disappeared. Along with everyone on it. Except me, who gets to be somewhere a few hundred years in the past where the stars make no sense and the charts are worse.
[Drink.]
Ha ha, must have been some party.
[THIS IS KIND OF DISTRESSING and she's trying to cover it up with brass cheek and booze. Some of that bitterness leaks into her voice anyway]
no subject
[This person is kind of infuriating!]
I feel sorry for your ship, having a captain like you.
[Murasa is clearly no Chihaya Gunzou]
no subject
No. It was a joke.
[That seems to have struck a nerve.]
no subject
[Okay she kind of feels bad about upsetting her but PRIDE WILL NOT LET HER BACK DOWN]
no subject
Hahaha, this is nothing.
[And she winds up to give her a seemingly good-natured swat on the shoulder. Her touch is freezing cold, not necessarily temperature-wise.]
no subject
...so do you captain a ship here?
no subject
[This person looked rather odd, at least in comparison to almost everything else here, but Murasa had seen far odder things captaining a ship. Herself, for instance!]
no subject
[Because wow, as far as she can tell, it really doesn't matter who the fuck knows she's from the Fleet of Fog here]
gtfo insomnia
And this is from someone who doesn't believe in ghosts.
no subject
[Totally way more believable.]
no subject
I don't know, the spirit of a ship wandering around and talking sounds fairly supernatural to me.
no subject
no subject
[This is a bit of a hard sell, since the one Murasa knows of represents a god and all.]
I assume nanomaterials are "very small otherwise non-sentient things", yes?
[SHE DOESN'T KNOW THIS STRANGE TECHNOLOGY but she can guess!]
no subject
More or less. They're nanomachines that don't have any internal operating programs, so they only function while under the control of a union core.
no subject
Sounds like a magician and their spells to me, just with the names changed.
[Or an old ghost and a bunch of undead underlings.]
no subject
[STOP CALLING HER GHOST SHIP]
no subject
Still sounds like magic to me, but if you say so.
