Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Not much of an unbiased authority on that.

[He raises his arms, tensing the chain binding his wrists.]

I am a criminal, after all. I just like to know ahead of time if I should expect to run.

[He shakes his head, amused.]

No need to run, I think. [It's enough of a revelation though for him to keep half an eye on him. He orders two bowls of beef ramen and grabs a seat.]

What'd you do?

[What the hell, he's got some time to kill.]

Guess. What do you think I did?

[runningonramen]

[Naruto leans back against the counter, looking at Cody.]

I don't know...did you kill someone?

[model_prisoner]

Once. Doesn't have anything to do with my sentence, though.

[runningonramen]

Huh. Well did you betray your village or something? I don't know.

[model_prisoner]

Not really. Guess I just like to fight a little too much.

[runningonramen]

Oh, is that all?

[The ramen comes and he glances at Cody for a moment from the corner of his eye before digging in.]

Even if I'm telling the truth, the question is whether you'd believe a convict. How many people in prison ever really admit to what they do?

[runningonramen]

I don't really know anything about prisoners. [It's not the kind of lie that's really affecting his life so he shrugs it off.]

Probably doesn't matter, unless you're going to attack me or something.

[model_prisoner]

You don't look like much of a brawler. Don't see much point to it.

[He reaches into his jumpsuit and pulls out a handful of coins, plunking them down for some takoyaki.]

Definitely a change of pace from a prison cell. Nice to wake up in the sun, now and then.

[Yep, that's him, just another innocent teenager. He slurps some ramen.]

Yeah, it's a pretty good day when you get to go out!

[Oh yeah, introductions. When's the last time he ever bothered to do that? Jail is awful for remembering pleasantries.]

Uh...Cody. Cody Travers.

You're Japanese, then?

Huh? What's that? I'm from the Land of Fire.

[model_prisoner]

...What country is that in?

[runningonramen]

That is the country. The journal said this is a different world, so, probably different countries.

[model_prisoner]

...Journal. Right. That thing.

[He's not too big on a bunch of reading.]

[runningonramen]

[That's too bad, the book was pretty informative. Naruto pushes the empty bowl away and starts in on the second without a breath in between.]

Don't worry about it too much, since we'ere here, you can't go there.

[model_prisoner]

Another world.

[He glances up at the sky. Sun does seem a little larger than what he remembers.]

Didn't much think there were other worlds. These people seem human enough.

[runningonramen]

[Naruto shakes his head a little.]

I never thought about it either, but it's kind of cool! I mean, I've never been here before-ttebayo! They all seem nice enough. Ramen's okay. It's not Ichiraku, but it's pretty good.

[model_prisoner]

Ichiraku? That's definitely a Japanese name. Somehow your place sounds like Japan, but not Japan.

[runningonramen]

Ichiraku's the old man who runs the ramen stall. He makes the best ramen in the whole world! I've never found anyone better than him, and sometimes he gives me extra meat!

[model_prisoner]

Can't say I have a history with generous folks. Metro City was always pretty dog-eat-dog.

[runningonramen]

[His thoughts turn introspective for a brief moment and he just smiles.]

Well the old man is a good guy, that's all! I've been eating there my whole life!

So, got any tips about this place? I get bored reading pretty quickly.
