Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Sakura takes her seat and tries to ignore the stares.

SHE is blending in just fine with her black-hair henge and her war uniform traded in for something a bit more normal for this town. Naruto, on the other hand? She doubts he even knew what it means. What was the point in changing her appearance when she was going to be sitting next to someone in bright orange?]

Not before you do. Keep it down. We're not here to eat ramen.

[Dirty bowl or no.]

[obstinates]

[He just plops his ass into the chair like a little kid who doesn't get his way. There's a grumble from the little shit as he folds his arms across his chest and just makes the LOUDEST sigh of SUFFERING ever.]

There's nothin' wrong with eating a little bit while we're here though!

[slugly]

[A part of her missed seeing Naruto just be himself and be annoying and asking for ramen every chance he got. She missed being able to catch him at Ichiraku whenever she needed to talk to him and he would always be there. Another part of her just wishes they were fighting in the war again and back home and taking care of business and not sitting at a bar on some unknown island.

Eating something WOULD help them blend in a little better...]

Alright. But order something on the menu.

[POINTS AT A MENU on a board. No ramen.]

[obstinates]

[The blond leans forward and squints at the menu.]

...

It just says "beef."

Sakura-chan, can we go somewhere else? There's gotta be a ramen stand around here somewhere.

[slugly]

I doubt it.

[If there was, Naruto would have already been there.]

We aren't here for food in the first place. [If they were, there were PLENTY of better places to eat than a grungy pub that smells like butt.]

We have information to gather, remember?

[obstinates]

[Oh. Right. Information gathering. He'd said they'd figure out whatever it was that they needed to figure out, but he doesn't know what it is they need to figure out. Go figure.

His blue eyes glances around the room slowly.]

Only thing I've gathered is that nobody knows how to take a bath.

[slugly]

[ANYthing importANT SOUNDING. Naruto and Sakura are probably the worst people for this job because they don't have the skills for intel gathering. That was something for Aburame or for Yamanaka. Naruto and Sakura had... attack power. Healing power. Talk no jutsu power.

Could they talk no jutsu someone into telling them something important?

She nudges him for his sass talk.]

We have to do better than that.

[And since NEITHER OF THEM want alcohol she orders the 'beef'. Sakura looks thoughtful and wonders outloud;]

Beef is in ramen, isn't it?

[obstinates]

Depends on the ramen.

[He answers her thoughts but leans back, hands locking behind his head.]

But it's just beef without ramen, so it's not going to be as good. I'm tired of the crap we eat on the boat, y'know. Maybe I should make my own ramen.

[slugly]

[Hey. Sakura PICKS OUT that crap. Oranges are GOOD FOR YOU.]

What's wrong with what we eat?

[obstinates]

Not enough ramen.

[Or any at all.]

[That's what's wrong with it.]

[slugly]

[HMPH.

Now pointing at him and she's all offended because she's taking it personal.]

You could do well to put something in your diet other than ramen! I pick foods that are healthy for a life at sea. We need plenty of fruits and vegetables so we don't get sick. Plus, heavy foods like ramen don't help with motion sickness either.

[BEEF iS SLAMMED DOWN IN FRONT OF THEM stopping any further lecture by Sakura. And it is what it is, a huge slab of meat. Not very appetizing. She shoots Naruto a disconcerted look before addressing the barkeep.]

I... could I get a fork?

[obstinates]

[He sort of sinks in his seat a little and debates hiding under the table because Sakura can get scary when she goes off on a rant. Sometimes those rants are punctuated with her destroying furniture or whacking him if he can't keep his mouth shut, and considering his big mouth, he usually can't stay quiet.

Her attention is gone from him, however, when the beef arrives. Naruto leans forward and blinks at it and then pokes it with his finger. The stuff is so overcooked his finger just disappears several inches into the meat.]





... Can we please go somewhere else?

[slugly]

[Smacks that hand away with a scowl. DON'T POKE IT YOU BARBARIAN.

It's tempting. There's other place to get information.

But the barkeep is standing there staring at them and especially Naruto for being SO RUDE. Sakura looks around at the rest of the bar and swallows audibly before look down at the beef.]

Maybe it's... better than it looks.

[Or feels.]

[obstinates]

[He yelps like a wounded dog when she smacks his hand, and then he continuously rubs it to make it feel better as he stares at the meat. It looks like shit, and there is no way he's going to eat it. Besides, Sakura seems to think it'll be fine.]

Then you can eat it all, y'know.

[slugly]

I don't think so. You touched it so you can eat it.

[Pushes the plate towards him.]

[obstinates]

You ordered it so you can eat it.

[Besides, he pokes his finger into his mouth to taste and doesn't like what he gets.]

[slugly]

I ordered it because you said we should eat while we're here.

[She gets that fork and then she holds it out to Naruto.]

Eat it.
