Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Okay, so the stringy man doesn't appear to be threatening them. The dragon slowly relaxes, if just a little, but he remains close to his Viking as he peers at Luffy.]

[summing_it_up]

He can be. [A shrug.] Sometimes.

Actually, now that you mention it...it's been some time since we had anything to eat.

[Glancing between the Night Fury and Luffy, Hiccup tilts his head slightly.]

Really? You don't have any problems with us just coming along?

[allendsmeat]

Haha why not? You'd be great nakama! And we've got plenty of food.

[he grins and points to the ship with the silly pink dragon figurehead that's floating in the far distance]

Wanna race me over?

[b2_dragon]

[Blinking between Hiccup and Luffy, the dragon tilts his head before he glances off in the direction the overeager one points.

He then looks back at his Viking, inquiringly.]

[summing_it_up]

...Weeell...

[A thoughtful pause is given. He tries to stifle a laugh as he sees the ship Luffy is from. Silly, but somewhat welcoming? Is that what it is?

The viking bends a bit, patting the dragon again.]

What do you say, Toothless? A better boat and some grub? And if he means to race, there's flying involved.

[just GRINS in anticipation]

[Toothless takes on a thoughtful pose as well, emitting a sound to almost match. He nudges at the hand patting him, grumbling out noises in response, not that they make any sense.

Looking back at Luffy, he gives a bit of a snort before glancing back at Hiccup.]

[summing_it_up]

–Oof, fine. You got me.

[Better than nothing. Without any other qualms, Hiccup steps back, then hops up onto Toothless' back, clicking everything into place.]

Looks like we'll be taking you up on that offer.

[allendsmeat]

Yooooshhh. [he propellors his right arm, winding up a bit before punching out, streeeetching across the distance and grabbing the mast, wrapping the end of his arm around it even as he backs up, sandals skidding a bit as his whole arm trembles faintly with rubbery tension]

Say when to go!

[Toothless stomps about to get himself pointed in the right direction, looking at Hiccup once the Viking boy is situated on his back. He settles into position, ready and waiting for Hiccup's word- although he has to gape a bit once Luffy pulls off his stretch-armstrong trick again.

Come on Hiccup, they got this!]

[summing_it_up]

[It takes all of three seconds for him to recover from gawking at stretch armstrong Luffy, wondering if that kind of thing is normal around here.]

All right...

[He hunkers down as well, wrapping his fingers around the grips above the saddle.]

...

GO!

[allendsmeat]

[he grins and kicks off, holding his hat down with one hand as he zips through the air toward his ship which even seems to lean in a little]

WAHOOOOOOO!

[b2_dragon]

[The Night Fury launches off the deck and into the air the moment Hiccup gives the word, stretching his wings fully as he glides low and fast over the waters in the direction of the boat with the terrible looking dragon head.]

[summing_it_up]

[Okay, while he's a little distracted by how surreal Luffy is, he has to keep his focus on the goal. Feeling the wind suddenly whip through his hair and over his face is a sure sign that Toothless' flight path is unencumbered.

It shouldn't be hard to race against a guy who can fling himself like a human slingshot, right?]

[he's not even paying attention to who wins or not. He's just having fun zipping through the air with a super cool dragon flying beside him and a super cool guy riding it.

He's watching them so hard that he's not paying attention and slams into the figurehead snout, bounces over it and then rolls around his own arm until he crashes against the mast, sitting up to look like a sort of pink rubbery spring roll]

Shishishi that was awesome!

[The speed they'd been going had been only fairly adequate since they didn't have a great height to start from, but once they close in on the other ship, Toothless curves his flight path, expecting his rider to adjust the other side of his tail fin accordingly so they can make a smooth landing on deck-

...and not crash into the ship like Luffy has.]

[summing_it_up]

[Each move is in sync with the dragon, the tail fin and its connection clicking to dictate the movement. Their work is nearly flawless – even moreso since Luffy crashes right into the ship.

Hiccup cringes. Although it looks like the pirate's okay, that still seems painful. Just as Toothless touches down, Hiccup quickly maneuvers the tail fin gear, releasing his foot and vaulting partially over the saddle.]

That landing sure wasn't! A-are you okay?

[allendsmeat]

Haha yeah! I'm rubber! [it didn't really hurt] You're pretty good at flying. [he slips his arm free of the mast and tries to pull it through the coils of the arm around him only gets stuck a little and flops on his side to try to wriggle it free]

Do you ride dragons a lot at home?

[b2_dragon]

[Strange, strange wiggly human thing. Toothless watches Luffy try to get himself unstuck...or more tangled, whichever it would turn out. Maybe he needs help, but Toothless isn't sure what end would be better to pull.]

[summing_it_up]

Um. Okay. And thanks?

[He isn't sure what end to pull at, either. So they'll just. Hang out while Luffy takes care of it.]

The flying's been more of a recent thing, really.
