See you during the application round!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Robert Mullins | Fox's Peter Pan & the Pirates

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-20 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
While nailing a horseshoe to the mast, he noticed things that would bring ill luck. This Brooklyn brigand decided to take matters into his own hands. The rest of this so called crew were sorry excuses for seafarers, for they neglected all the required rituals and protections. If the situation persisted, they would all be cursed. He had to teach them the proper ways of pirating.

"Hey!" He called out. "No whistling! Are ya tryin' to bring a storm?"

"And you!" He called to another shipmate. "You'll bring death to us all, I tells ya! Never cut your hair while at sea!"

He gasped in horror and rushed down the mast.

"Are those flowers?" He had to throw those overboard as soon as possible if they wanted to survive. Flowers were for funerals.

"Calm down, matey." The seven foot and some change pirate lounged against the rail as he watched the little man freak out. "I've cut more hair than mine and nothing bad has happened... that we haven't seen through. Anyway, bad luck or good luck is up to the whims of the sea, isn't it?"

"Aye, ya got a point," Robert conceded reluctantly. This man was even larger than Captain Hook, though not quite as menacing. None of his rituals kept the Jolly Roger out of Neverland.

"The sea is supreme, which is why ya don't wanna taunt it. Neptune gets jealous when you make offerings to Proserpina in his territory."

He wasn't entirely sure King Neptune cared about that kind of thing. Granted, Thatch had never met the merman, only heard stories from Namur but perhaps the Neptune was different where this man came from.

"Maybe so, but I'll do what I want as a pirate's right. If Neptune has a problem, he can come and face me like a man." Though he says all this lightly and with warm humor, not taking the threat seriously.

He was referring to gods and the sea itself.

"If ya want to challenge a god, I won't be stoppin ya," he conceded. Thatch was an experienced sailor and they did come from different worlds.

"Maybe he deserves to be challenged now and again, aye? To keep his strength up." But he won't taunt the other man too much as he seems pretty flighty. Instead he grabs onto the rigging and hauls himself to sit on the railing.

"So tell me about yourself, mate."

It's hard to stay down to earth when stuck in a land formed from a child's imagination.

"He's plenty strong enough for me," he said. "If you could take him down a few pegs, it'd be quite a feat."

This large fellow did seem like he had a better chance than the average sailor. He was competent on the deck, so Robert couldn't dismiss his views. He may have also had experience with the supernatural.

"What do ya wanna know?" He said. "Im all my years of sailing, I've seen some strange things. Even by the standards of this place."

He was aware that some thought of him as a minor storybook character.

"Ever hear of a place called Neverland?"

[personal profile] manlionpig 2014-01-20 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
A little black pig sitting next to a gas-burner with a kettle propped over it? This was definitely sorcery of the adorable kind. P-chan regarded Robert with a deadpanned look--or a look as deadpanned as a piglet could offer.
theresevilinit: (wtf)

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-21 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
His eyes widened in horror at the sight of the little black hog. It was bad luck to even say the word pig or let one cross your path.

"What are you doing here, ya little curly tail?" He asked. The little fellow appeared to be in a dangerous position. It was horrible enough that it was on board. Killing one would bring even creature misfortune. Also, it was a cute little creature, though he would never admit to that opinion.

The gruff, scarred man made a grab to pull it away from the burner.

[personal profile] manlionpig 2014-01-26 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Squealing angrily, P-chan jumped back a few inches and squealed at Robert. He wasn't interested in finding another bit of water to boil and didn't want to set up his rig a second time, so there he was--being a jerk.

Instead of trying to dissuade him by pulling the 'smart pig' routine, he went straight for the aggressive!
theresevilinit: (suspiscious)

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-26 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
He was expecting some type of attack from a frightened animal, but P-chan was too quick for him. He failed to grab the little guy. He couldn't tell what he tripped over but he barely managed to avoid burning himself. It almost proved the curse.

At least it wouldn't burn itself while attacking him.

[personal profile] manlionpig 2014-01-26 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
The piglet slowly took steps back to the gas stove, eying Robert with a measure of madness. The deviled ham stepped sideways, much like a predator ready to pounce.

And then when he heard the kettle go off, he jumped and kicked the side of it, getting hot water all over himself--to which Ryoga stood up out of the steam, arms crossed tightly.

"Hey, what's the big idea!? Was I botherin' you!?"

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-31 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Despite Ryoga's anger, the change calmed him. This was not a real pig, but a transformed human. He was reminded of the time fairy magic had a similar effect on Michael. He understood why the lad would want to keep his condition a secret.

"How was I supposed to know you was cursed?"

If only he had his almanac with him. It would have given him some insight on how to help Ryoga.

"I'm sorry! I thought they would help brighten up the ship!" Haruka exclaimed as Robert Mullins started to complain about the floral arrangements. "What- what's wrong with flowers?" He was a superstitious sort, but he had more seafaring experience than she ever did back home so she'd listen to what he had to say. If flowers were bad luck.. then they were bad luck and had to go!
theresevilinit: (you'll be cursed)

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-21 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
He was superstitious to the point of paranoia. His time spent in Neverland, where many of his beliefs were proven true, only added to his obsession.

"This ain't Prospect Park, Lass!" Robert exclaimed. "Flowers have got no place on a ship, unless ya want that to be our funeral arrangements. They be a symbol of death!"
my_lost_heart: (Falling)

[personal profile] my_lost_heart 2014-01-21 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
At least the old saying about having women on board being bad luck wasn't one of the superstitions he adhered to!

"Prospect Park?" She tilted her head to one side in confusion. "Eh?" Funeral arrangements!? With a squeal she lifted the first pot and tossed it over board. Even if it sounded farfetched she didn't want to be the one responsible for causing everyone's doom.

He was already used to Wendy, Tiger Lily and Tinkerbell boarding the Jolly Roger, sometimes unwillingly. In this case, there were so many women around that not letting them on ships would lead to even worse luck. There were also an alarming number of redheads.

He sighed in relief as the girl tossed the pot over. At least someone was willing to listen.

"Thanks," he said as he tossed over more of the flowers. Perhaps, she could become a sailor in spite of her gender and hair color

[personal profile] my_lost_heart 2014-01-22 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Through their combined efforts it didn't take much longer to clear the deck of flowers. "You're welcome." Haruka nodded, though it seemed odd to be thanked since she was the one that had brought the bad omen on board in the first place. She spared one glance over the side of the boat. Many of the flowers were bobbing along on the surface. "We're all in this together, so.. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to ensure our success".

Haruka was probably one of the few that didn't try to argue with Robert over things like this.

She was willing to listen and learn. She helped fix the problem, instead of ignoring it. He really appreciated that. It was something he could work with. She wouldn't be his first student.

"You've got the right idea" he said in an attempt at encouragement. " Ya gotta look out for your shipmates."
my_lost_heart: (Content)

[personal profile] my_lost_heart 2014-01-28 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mm!" She readily agreed. Though she also tended to look out for other people's shipmates too, not just her own. She wouldn't be as keen on oh say, pillaging another ship, or ransacking an island. There wasn't much about her that could be considered piratey.

"Is there anything else that needs to be done?"
theresevilinit: (arm wrestling)

[personal profile] theresevilinit 2014-01-31 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
Looking out for other ships was fine, as long as they weren't enemies, or competition for the same resources. Pillaging was mainly for necessities. He wouldn't interfere if their captain insisted on honest means of obtaining their goods. He'd start with the basics of sailing and hope that Captain Hook would never press her into service.

He looked around for more obvious problems. He had completed most of the rituals to counter the worst curses.

"How much do ya know about this ship?"
