Test Drive for February 2014 Apps

Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Lara-Su tried to rein back that title, but it was kinda hard to do so after so long. Either way, she sighed and shook her head. "I'll never know how the others got used to you." She said. Taking a few steps forward, she stretched a bit before looking around.

"Now what?"

"Now?" After a good stretching out with each leg, Sonic twisted his arms up and leg around as he poised himself to dart off. "Now you get to try and keep up." Sonic bolted off down the shoreline while making sure to wave the girl onward. "C'mon! There's an entire island we gotta take run through." The forest with its winding trees, twisted vines, and assuredly hidden pitfalls sure looked promising!

"H-Hey!" Lara-Su barely had time to brace herself when Sonic raced off. Really, was this what her parents had to deal with? With a small sigh, she chuckled as she took the skies to follow Sonic, admittedly thankful that she could fly on land and not sink like a rock over water.

Sonic glanced over his shoulder as he ran, and was quite surprised to see his newfound acquaintance gliding through the air rather than running behind him. Not the first echidna he'd seen with the ability to glide, but not something he'd come to expect from the run-of-the-mill echidna.

Sonic pivoted on his heel and started running backwards. Despite the obvious dangers that it entailed--mostly running into solid objects--Sonic didn't slow his pace as he posed his question. "Hey! You wouldn't happen to know an Echidna named Knuckles, would you?"

"Knuckles? Yeah, he's m--" Lara-Su began before stopping herself. It's bad enough still referring to Sonic under his (possibly future) title, but if she let the cat out of the bag that she's Knuckles' kid, who knows WHAT may happen!

"...ah, he's the Guardian of Angel Island. Everyone knows that, right?" Big sheepish grin. In the back of her mind, she's BEGGING that he didn't catch the slip up.

[quickster]

"Yeah." Sonic agreed with a snicker, seemingly oblivious of the slip-up of words. He waved a hand in the air. "Just don't let him know that. Wouldn't wanna see fame make that knucklehead even more hard headed than he already is." In all fairness Knuckles most likely knew his status within the echidna; but Sonic couldn't resist a jab at his pals pride. Even if he wasn't around at that moment.

Sonic briefly glanced over his shoulder just in time to catch a glimpse of an oncoming rock-wall, which he expertly sidesteps at the last moment.

"Wow..." Lara-Su couldn't help but be awed at how skilled Sonic was. This was Sonic at his prime and it was awesome. Gliding over the wall herself, she couldn't help but taunt him a bit. "Betcha can't keep that up!"

Oh? Was that an invitation for him to show off? He couldn't help but smirk in light of the challenge. That was one invitation he could accept without hesitation.

Sonic gave a mischievous smile, "Tch. You're on, lady."

Considering they were heading into the tree line of the island he wouldn't have to wait long to stay true to his word. The hedgehog made quick work of leaping through winding branches, swinging on vines, and speeding through the wet underbrush, after of which he landed neatly on the overhanging trees, letting his momentum propel him forward through the twisted vines. Nothing like a little tree-surfing. Backwards.

Though through it all, Sonic had been whistling an extremely familiar tune as if the dangerous near misses and stunts he pulled were second nature. Mostly because they were.
