Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Thanks. And glad to hear that. I really didn't want to get stuck on a floating rat colony.

[He leaned away slightly, a little surprised by the invasion of his personal space.] Uh. I'm Badou Nails. Nice to meet you.

[Get used to it, it's likely to happen often. He's lucky though because when he leans away this time she has the good sense to give him a little more room.]

It's nice to meet you too. [Minako said with a light nod]

I'd be happy to show you where you can put your things down and be your guide for the rest of the ship. [That should give her ample time to learn more about him]

That'd be great, thanks. I've never been on a ship before, so I have no idea where anything would be.

ReallY? [She looked puzzled] Then how'd the whole losing an eye thing happen? [Tact, what is that]

Well you're in luck! I've been on this ship for... [Wait for it] a week now, I can tell you all about it!

[Reflexively, his right hand moves up to touch the eyepatch, revealing the scar on his hand.]

This? I was in the wrong place at the wrong time when I was a kid. [It's okay, he's used to tactless people.]

[That response gets a chuckle out of him.] Great. Sounds like I've got the best person to show me around.

[She caught sight of the scar but she wasn't sure what could have left that sort of mark]

Well you had better be careful on board. [Trying to sound a little authoritative] We don't have any bubble wrap on board. [She couldn't resist teasing him a little]

[He didn't have a bad laugh either] Mm! [In no time she was walking over to the stairs that would lead below decks]

Ha! Well, I can't make any promises, but I'll do my best to be careful.

So, how'd you end up here?

That'll do for now. [He was greeted with a warm smile]

I'm not really sure... one minute I was trying to complete the difficult mid-air somersalt with a half twist, and the next... I was landing in front of that creepy looking old fountain.

What about you?

I was uh. [Minako probably doesn't need to hear about all the shooting that went on right before he got here.] I was getting some unexpected news, and then I was by that weird fountain.

...Why were you doing a somersault through the air?

[Stop leaving out the details, I can handle it! Or at least she would think that if she realized he was omitting the interesting bits] What kind of news was that?

.. Because I pride myself on my athletic ability and skill! I know I could master that move if things would stop getting in my way. First that cat, and then this weird otherworldly island. It's like the move is cursed.

Just some news of where my idiot older brother disappeared to. [No, really Minako, you don't want to know.]

Alright, fair enough. It's a good thing to be in shape.

...Wait, what happened with a cat?

[Pausing in her steps for a moment, she looked aside and frowned at that. She wasn't the only one that had disagreements with her family, but this sounded more serious.]

[With a shake of her head, she decided not to pry. If he ever wanted to open up about it, she'd listen but she wouldn't hassle him about it.]

[She balled a fist at the memory]

I sat on it.

[A beat]

He was right where I intended to land. I could have crushed him with my gym shoes.

[He doesn't really have a problem talking about it... But he doesn't feel the need to traumatize some poor random teenager with his horrible life story.]

You... sat on it...? [Don't mind him laughing again.] I take it he didn't react too well to being sat on?

[That didn't stop her from misinterpreting the situation. He couldn't be holding back because of her, she was practically one of the guys back home.]

[She tensed, and her frown grew wider before she caught herself laughing in spite of herself. It was a pretty stupid thing to have happen to you.] Considering the circumstances he handled it better than I did. [There had been some flailing of paws but since she was on his back there was no way he could have accidentally clawed her in the process]

This is where all the bunk beds are. [She motioned towards one room.] There are some private quarters but space is limited on a vessel.

If you play your cards right, I can put in a good word for you with the captain. [She winked]

Well that's good. Cats can be pretty mean if you piss them off.

[He took a quick look around the room and shrugged slightly.] I'm not too worried about it. As long as I don't have to worry about my stuff going missing.

I'll keep that in mind though. I haven't met the rest of the crew, so I shouldn't assume that I'll be able to stand being around them all. [Not that Badou really ever had any issues with people who weren't complete psychopaths.]

Noisy too! I can never get him to shut up when we're in pub. lic.

[Ex-nay on the talking cat-ey. She laughed nervously, as she waved one hand to breeze past the subject]

No one would dare try to steal anything while I'm on board. [She guaranteed, even though know one knew that she was secretly Sailor V she could definitely stop any foul play with noooooo problems]

I think you'll get on, alright from the sound of things. We're all in this together so we kind of have to depend on each other a little.
