Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

I'm sorry. I didn't mean...

[Dust looks away, not that he is particularly big on eye contact in the first place.]

I need to find her. She ought to be here with Ahrah. [And Dust needs her presence dearly, but he's less inclined to mention that part.]

[humansgoboom]

[He exhales a little bit, turning to glance at Dust properly.]

You arrived alone most likely, same as I did. Don't worry about the mistake, I look like a human.

[mithrarin]

That can't be. The Blade of Ahrah is here with me. [Dush swings the large sword, still in a reverse grip, up.] Why would he come, but not Fidget?

[humansgoboom]

I don't know, but the rest of my team doesn't seem to be here either. The lack of explosions suggest they are not.

[mithrarin]

Just like the lack of indignant alarm means no Fidget.

[He smiles sadly; the lack of a 'Hey!' proves the point. She wouldn't hide from him, not like this. Either she's lost, or she never came with him.]

[Dust holds out a hand, looking down at it as if he's never seen it before.]

I shouldn't be here either. The life of a Sen-Mithrarin doesn't end when it ought to... Where are we?

[humansgoboom]

[There's a pause and then Haruto holds up a journal.]

The book says it's a different world, and this place is called Isla Empieza. The humans around here don't seem to care for strangers much, and they don't seem that surprised at this point in time. Why, I'm not sure.

The architecture suggests it's a period of time far before my own. The air quality is perfect, no radiation whatsoever.

[mithrarin]

I don't know anything about that. I'm from Falana. It looks... nothing like this. This is like nothing I've ever seen.

[But considering how short his existence as 'Dust' is, this doesn't surprise him, and it's nothing he sounds particularly shocked over.]

[humansgoboom]

It almost looks like photographs from history books from a time long ago. All the same, this isn't my world which remains a problem for me.

[mithrarin]

You say that so easily. That it's not your world. How are you sure?

[humansgoboom]

Based on what I've found out thus far people are unfamiliar with the concept of Japan, Osaka or the nuclear disaster that struck Tokyo twenty years ago. I'd say that is a good indication. That was a major world event.

[mithrarin]

...I think you've convinced me.

[Because seriously, what? Neither Dust, nor Jin, nor Cassius remembers anything like any of that.]

No monsters... no enemies I can see.

[humansgoboom]

[Haruto exhales.]

Just swarming with humans. Admittedly they seem pretty harmless for the most part.

[mithrarin]

[The slight scoffing noise Dust makes is all the testament he offers to his own experience -- if not with humans, than with his own kind, who humans appear to be strange versions of, and who could be far more monstrous than any 'monster'.]

Ahrah. Does anything about this, at all, make sense?

[The answer comes from the sword in Dust's hands, the runes on it shimmering with each word he speaks.]

No, Dust. This is nothing I know of.

[humansgoboom]

[Haruto would agree with you Dust, humans could be monstrous and stupid, it's just that people seem to get upset when he says things like that, so he's trying not to enter into needless conflict.]

Very little of it makes sense, I'm trying to gather as much information as I can before I do anything.

[mithrarin]

If I've been brought here, it must be for some purpose. But if even Ahrah doesn't know...

Someone here must. It must be something.
