Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Leaving and coming back, that’s something he’s going to store away for later.]

Confusing, yeah, that’s one way to put it. [Asami knew the basics if she’s been here for a month. Him passing out on his bed isn’t what she meant with time not working the same way. A marker of what just happened recently, that’s easy.] Korra saved the world from Vaatu and she left the portals open.

…Why? What’s the last thing you remember?

That was the last thing I remember too.

[And a bunch of other stuff that she didn't want to get into right now, at the risk of making the conversation awkward. A hand goes on her hip as she looks around]

So no one told you anything about this place yet? [The local pirates weren't the most helpful in regards to giving newcomers information that was for sure. She knew] I can fill you in.

sooo I lied.

[And he is very grateful for sidestepping the awkward for now, if his measured nod is any indication.]

That’d be good, because I’m not getting anything from hanging around here. [He motioned at a drunk pirate, haphazardly making his way through the square.

So helpful.]

Wait, where have you been living for a month?

There's a lot to explain. It might be easier if you want to ask anything specific and I can help you out from there. [She raised an eyebrow at the passing drunk] I know what you mean, it was the same way when I got here.

[As for his question...]

We have a ship, they have rooms on it and everything.

Why am I not surprised you have some type of transportation. [Not even a question if his semi-indulgent smirk is anything to go by. This is Asami, so of course his brain goes straight to a luxury ship.]

That doesn't sound so bad. How did you get you enough money together to get a ship? [Ship hands, renting out a place to dock- the whole nine yards. Yup. He's liking the sound of it; even if it is the conclusion he's jumping to.]

It's kiiiind of needed around here.

[More like really needed. Because, shards and everything. Oh and to escape the Navy]

It's actually not my ship. Korra came here before me and she was already part of a crew, so I started tagging along with them.

[streetferret]

You mean the poem. [He's read it on the base of the fountain a few times.] Think that gem will really grant wishes?

[He's got reserves on that issue. If it sounds too good to be true, than it probably is. As for Korra being on a ship, he's still processing that. It means she believes it too.]

I don't really know. [She's been questioning that since day one and she still has her doubts about the whole thing] But we aren't left with many options and I don't think standing around is going to help much either.

[streetferret]

[That really is their only lead, especially if Asami’s been here a month and Korra has for even longer. He just raises his eyebrows and nods; standing around while there’s at least something that might help isn’t his style.]

Okay, so we need to find these pieces and you guys already have a ship. Pretty good for half of Team Avatar. I don’t suppose you’ve found any of the shards already? [Not holding his breath, not when everyone’s looking for them.]

Only a few, I think. The only problem is we don't know how many there are, there could be literally thousands. [Or she was told. In some ways it felt like a lost cause, especially when she worded it that way. Which is why she crosses her arms and frowns after that]

[His face lights up at the mention of a few, but only briefly. Thousands. For all they knew the ruby could be huge and being completely scattered; bottom of the sea, islands, even in the earth itself- shards can be anywhere.

Seeing her body language, it reminds him: One thing at a time.]

Okay, so we listen for rumors and find any leads on each one. [Information gathering, he can do that, especially one he establishes some contacts. This isn’t impossible. Stick to that line of thinking.] Where’s this ship, and who else is on it?

[Probably no names he’d know, but best to learn sooner than later.]
