Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[whistles lowly as he watches the fire get put out. If only they could do that with Ace borne truama]

You're pretty quick, old man. [he says as he nonchalantly cuts a cannonball in half] You must work out.

[but he's teasing as he actually has a certain amount of respect for the guy.]

[redfootzeff]

You get plenty of workouts when you're missing a leg. [He taps his peg leg that he used to blow out the flaming shrapnel against the deck, watching the skies for more incoming ammunition.] I don't suggest trying it.

[thatched]

Can't in any case. [a barrage of cannonballs are flying at them. Thatch swings his arm out] Dark Wave! [his arm fuzzes to a long trail of blackness and he reverses the gravity to repel the canonballs back into the ships before reforming his arm]

How are you enjoying these seas?

[redfootzeff]

[Nope. Not impressed. Watching Devil Fruit users in action sort of kills the "that's so cool!" reaction most people would have.]

Rougher than the one I'm used to but a calm sea compared to the latter half of the Grand Line and the New World.

[thatched]

[hey, he wasn't trying to be cool. He was trying to repel canonballs. But it wouldn't hurt to have some glimmer or appreciation for skill. He's still pretty new to it after all]

I wouldn't underestimate this place. We've had plenty of curses that no one can seem to shake off.

[oh look. uninvited guests. Thatch absently twirls a sword into place]

You asked me based on what I've seen, not on what I can imagine. Just because it hasn't been as bad as the Grand Line so far doesn't mean it isn't dangerous even as an ordinary sea.

[He's not going to be able to do much in the way of running for obvious reasons, so he's going to let the incoming pirates come to him. He balances most of his weight on his normal leg, ready to lash out with one of his deadly kicks.]

[thatched]

My apologies. [he's gotta learn not to underestimate the guy. One of the visitors slips by him and he half turns to see if Redfoot will be okay or--scratch that, how the chef will manage it. He's heard about him, of course, but never seen him in action]

[redfootzeff]

[Zeff doesn't disappoint. He drops down into a one-handed handstand and whirls about to deliver a punishing blow to his attacker's knee, resulting in a loud SNAP as the pirate howls in pain. He then springs back up to slam his peg leg down onto the man's skull. He then hobbles back a step or two and starts shaking the excess blood off his wooden leg while his victim lies there on the deck.]

[thatched]

[The man doesn't disappoint and Thatch is just this shy of applauding. It would have seemed callous to him somehow. After all that, he still wasn't as strong he was in his heyday.]

Looks like it's about cleared up. [he flicks the blood from his swords and slides them back] Got anything for a tired pirate?

[redfootzeff]

[Zeff turns back towards the galley, hobbling to the door.]

Dinner's in fifteen minutes. Should take that long for the roast to finish. If you can't wait that long, waste time washing up. The last thing I want is blood all over my galley table. It takes forever to get out of wood.
