Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[he pushes away from the wall, his arm feeling normal and the green light fading into a memory.]

Most times I am just passing through.

[it was getting a little crowded. Joji wondered if the fight was attracting people instead of deterring them. one person tripped into his space, swinging a dagger blindly, and he blocked the man's arm with his left arm and pimp slapped him with his right. being that it was metal under the guise of flesh, the hit made an odd hollow sound and sent the attacker stumbling backwards.]

I'm sure they are.

[he's so glad that his more important equipment is not on this plane of existence. he so did not feel like explaining his arm canon to these people.]

[ A derisive scoff. The air shimmers in the square. Then, a cool voice offers: ]

[ And then his Decepti0n times out as he takes up a relaxed, defensive position only a few feet from Jack. The message is clear: if I'd wanted to, you would be dead on the cobblestones.

But it's the first day, maybe he should hold off on murdering anyone for a bit. Even if they have it coming and even if it'd be really, really easy. (He wonders if Jack has a bounty on his head in any other systems. Possible. Something to look into.) ]

[He tilts his head a little, following her movement.]

If you want to go another round, I'll indulge you.

[Pause.]

It is, however, far better to resist such impulses in a strange place when unknown dangers may lurk. Injuries from a fight that needn't happen would only put both of us at risk, and Oi-chan doesn't like that idea at all.

Oh hey it's the pretentious haiku jackass. How're you doing? Wait, don't tell me, you answer is going to include seventeen syllables. That's so quaint, you know? Brings a tear to my eye to think just how devoted you are to that stupid trick of yours.

Question for you though, does it get easier over time? Do you think in haiku, too?

Flynn raises an eyebrow glancing between the two. "So you two were already crew before you got here?"

[ AH YES a little girl should not be hard to deal with. ]

My apologies, miss... I found myself on board and I got too curious for my own good.

[ smoulders ]

Ouch, my good sir. You're doubting my intentions? I'm only curious.

That is a very good question. Suffice it to say that as I am not yet acquainted with our surroundings, I do not feel ready to give up my extra layer of protection?

[Nothing here looks the least bit familiar, but it doesn't have the strange feel of the Fade, so she knows she is not dreaming.]

You... do not know whether or not you are from this island?

They all have swords and like to use them?

[He slapped his hand on the table in front of it, some of it splintering under him. The other pirates recoiled before they remembered the plan--to keep laughing nervously until the guy let his guard down so they could run.]

See? It's funny!

Excuse me, I'm an orphan and I find that very offensive.

[The voice has her tense, and she looks in the only direction danger could be coming-- out to sea. She has no sense of the arm reaching for in. Instead, she threads her arm around the rope responsible for securing the gun, the same one she used to catch herself, and ducks so her back is to the rail.

The force of the wave sweeps over the rail, the water rushing to escape pushing toward port, but she holds to the line with her hand, presses her back to the rail, and secures her foot in front of the braced wheel of the gun.

Only as her mind processes that the danger is past for the moment (she doesn't give up her position, just in case there is more to come) does she realize what her shipmate tried to do.]

I'm fine.

[Or, more accurately, too stubborn to want help from someone.]

[ He's just staring in a way that looks like it's about to give way to a faint. ]
