Test Drive for September 2013 Apps

Welcome to our first Test Drive for

high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Twitch. Twich. Minako narrows her eyes, getting that little bit annoyed. Does she look like one to you?]

With someone who looks this beautiful. No, I am not.

[ Makoto is such a cockblock when it comes to Haru's relationship with the water. He is so happy to see his best friend and runs up to greet him in between, pausing when he sees what he's wearing. ]

...you brought that? Did you know we were coming here? And more importantly, where are your clothes??

[ He's shocked but not surprised that he seems to be the only one thinking of this. ]

I must ask then, what exactly is your role. I'm sure it is badassed, but is it like a play or a movie? Good guy or bad?

[She assumes role = play or movies.]

It's a nice name.

[ An alien fairy? nbd. It's just a talking cat.

Who despite their conversation...is going to be pet right now. ]

Actually, I used to be the second division captain of the Whitebeard Pirates--at least, until the old man and I kicked the bucket.

[Casually said, Ace still smiled none the less. It didn't seem like a big deal that he died--since he was happy with what he did when he happened to be alive.]

Though, if you can use water and air as a weapon, that's gotta be useful. I used to have a friend who used Fishman Karate--he could fight usin' water strong enough to punch holes in steel blocks.

If you could use that kinda style, I might be in some trouble.

You mean like you did a moment ago. [Wait for it.] Since you know of something like that, are you some kind of pervert or something?

But it was so tasty. [A slightly pout of the lips there before closing and handing back the mirror]

Is that what happened?

[Half genuine question; half doubt. It's a likely enough story, but that doesn't mean Izaya will take it at face value.]

It does tend to be safer to travel in groups. But of course Akabayashi-san has his own way of doing things.

[Perhaps there's a compliment in there somewhere, but it's mostly stating a fact for the sake of it. Izaya knows everything one could possibly know about Akabayashi, of course!

Meanwhile, he keeps cutting away, disgust showing briefly in his eyes as the lizard's body shifts slightly, and blood gets on one of Izaya's shoes. A theatrical sigh soon buries all traces of real emotion, however.]

[What is that?! Izaya has seen some weird things since arriving in this world, but an elastic body is a new one on him. Oh, but that could be useful indeed...

The pirate aiming a pistol at the stowaway's head happens to be part of the crew - but that's all but irrelevant to Izaya. If he cared about his crewmates, he wouldn't have snuck away in the first place. So a knife comes flying, burying itself in the guy's hand. The pistol is dropped with a yelp.]

Not yet...

[The words are mumbled softly, more to himself than anyone else. Izaya wants to see what elastic boy is capable of. The rest is just window-dressing at this point.]

[The insult of sorts is taken in his stride. Of course she's right, objectively, but Izaya refuses to be afraid. Besides, a little gentle teasing is often the best precursor to lending a supportive ear.]

I see... Had a few too many bad experiences on other islands?

"Just because they recognise your genius doesn't mean they can't burst your head," Descry pointed out. "Especially if they want to try and gain some themselves. Why wouldn't they burst your head? Maybe it would carry some of the genius over. And at the very least it would be entertaining."

They were coming to the edge of the town now, close enough to the woods that the buildings began to peter out into dusty road. Descry hadn't really meant to ask anything specific, at least not at this point, but there was still one thing Skulduggery hadn't explained. "Who is Valkyrie?"

[The poem is still ringing in Garrus's ears.] Out to sea, I guess. [There's a war he has to go back and help win, after all.] Is there anything to find out there, or is it all just... more islands?

[Huh. Either someone's been going around wiping memories, or the Reapers had something even more dastardly up their sleeves than anyone could have guessed.

Then again, maybe this was Cerberus. Garrus wouldn't put it past them to be on the Reapers' side by now.]

I'm all ears.

I've never heard of it. [He doesn't know that much about Earth, to be fair, but he's starting to suspect that aliens are... well, an alien concept to these people. So he's watching what he says and trying hard to ignore the strange looks he hasn't stopped getting since he arrived.]

I think they want us to buy boats and go to look for pieces of a jewel they lost. But since I don't even know who 'they' are... [A sigh.] I don't know. I like to know the people I'm doing favours for.

"You have a very disturbing definition of 'entertaining,'" Skulduggery informed him.

As well as an interesting opinion about how the world worked. Skulduggery had been around plenty of people trying to take him down a peg for years. None of them had become geniuses.

"My new partner," he answered, and not without a hint of pride. "Valkyrie Cain. One of the most stubborn people I know, and I knew you. She still has a long way to go, but she matches me stride for stride, and that's more than many can say."

Nyah! [Hummy likes being petted, like any other cat.] That feels good~

[ He takes it back, she IS just like most cats.

But nothing wrong with that!

Stress relief.

Pet pet. Adds two years onto his life. ]

How did someone like you become a pirate captain?

Through hard work! Hummy is a hard worker danyan!

[She's purring now too. Cuuuute.]

[ He would not have guessed that. Frankly, super cat alien powers seemed more likely.

He nods. ]

That's good! I'm the captain of a swimming club but I think that's about as far as I'm going to get.

[Well she was also a magical cat so...]

Swimming is a lot of fun! Seiren and I used to go swimming in the lake!

[ A CAT WHO LIKES WATER?? ]

Seiren is Hummy's best friend in the whole wide world!

I like to swim with my best friend too.

[ WE HAVE A LOT IN COMMON, CAT. ]

I haven't said anything like that... Besides, I'm not gonna let them do that to you.

Hummy likes to do a lot of things with Seiren. It is always fun!
