Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Was he a musician? Narcissa had never heard of any real person with that name. In any case, it couldn't be a musician.]

I don't think it's a musician who did this. Yet, I also highly doubt that this was the work of some muggle legend.

[Because she did at least hear the name before. She didn't pay much attention to it, though. Muggles and their stories.]

Someone thinks this is a game. Tell me who cursed you. It may be the same person.

[But her eyes narrowed. He was the only one that showed any sign of magic, given his appearance and "curse". If that's even what it was.]

Well, they weren't traveling in a pack. This one was a lone predator.

You're not Sinbad! You're old!

[Obviously. Maybe it's his crazy uncle or something.]

[Ja'far peeks around the edge of the door before following. Checking for enemies, making sure it's safe, that sort of thing. Apparently Sinbad's too dumb to think about things like that. They're in unfamiliar territory, after all. You can't just go walking into strange buildings.]

Order booze. I wanna drink something.

[If he drinks it quickly, it should be okay.]

That's alright, I'll chase after them until I find them!

[ It doesn't really matter how long it takes, Sinbad will get the job done. ]

[Sinbad doesn't have to think about that, if there was danger, somehow he'd know.]

Sure. [He shrugs at Ja'far.]

What do you want to drink?

[nevermeddling]

I'm not old! [He frowns at Ja'far again.] Stop saying that!

I am Sinbad and when I know you now you're twenty-seven and a real stick in the mud. All you ever want to do is paperwork and make me do paperwork too. Sometimes you're such a-well, nevermind. I'd rather have fun and drink and spend time with all the women of the court. I can't get you to do anything like that.

Why go after a single fish, though? Surely there are easier ways to find a meal.

Who knows, the way things are I won't be surprised if people come being from our worlds, but from actual different versions of them. Heck, chances are that has happened already.

There are some teens in my crew who know someone else from their world since they were little, but that person didn't know them neither ever met them despite being almost an adult. And they know her as having parents and living on some islands, but she was an orphan who never met her parents neither was ever adopted as far as she's concerned. Same person, different lives.

[Ja'far pauses and just stares at him for a few seconds. What does he want to drink? How is he supposed to know? It's not like he's ever had alcohol before.]

How much money do you have? Get whatever's most expensive.

[Sounds like a plan.]

[Sinbad perks up visibly, pulling out his sword to illustrate his points.]

It's all about the adventure! [He points at the sea with the sword.]

The thrill of the chase, the taste of the hunt! That sweet victory that comes when you've worked so hard to get what you want and succeed! The movement of the waves, the danger of the sea...all of it!

[He's visibly trembling.]

Sure, I'll eat it, but that's not why I want to get it!

Okay, sure!

[Seems as good a plan as any. He walks up to the bartender and orders, not just a bottle of rum but two orders of stew, figuring Ja'far needs to eat something. If not, maybe he can save it for later. He pays and then comes back to Ja'far.]

Let's grab a table, shouldn't be too long.

...Ah, I see. You enjoy pointless work, then.

[He nods sagely, crossing his arms as he ponders the subject.]

I've noticed many humans echoing such sentiment. I don't quite understand taking action with no clear goal besides "adventure".

What? It's not pointless!

[What kind of nonsense is that?]

Adventure is important. I want to understand everything and everyone because I'm going to make my own country and I'm going to change the world!

[tofu_tiger]

Oh? You didn't say that.

Well I just didn't get to that part yet. I'm going to be King and make the best country in the world!

[tofu_tiger]

And how will you go about this? What is the combination that creates a great Kingdom? Tarouza has wondered this, as well.

I think a great Kingdom has a King that cares about his people. That's the most important part. Going to war, wasting lives and throwing everything away...taking everything you can from the poorest citizens and living in splendor...people hungry in the streets..it's all wrong. All of it. A King has to be the leader, he has to be in charge and he needs to take care of everyone.

I already have the power to be King. Some of the power to be King. I need more power. I need to be stronger.

Hm...I see. This is a very agreeable goal. You remind me very much of Tarouza.

[borntochangetheworld]

I never liked how things were done in Parthevia, and I don't like how people think. The weaker people who think that's how things have to be, who won't stand up for themselves...and the strong who take advantage of that. It's all very wrong. I won't stand for it. I'll make a change happen. I even have comrades now!

[tofu_tiger]

I'm sure you will succeed in your goal, just as I'm sure Tarouza will. I hope that you both can create long-lasting, peaceful lands for everyone.

[borntochangetheworld]

That's the plan!

[He grins broadly.]

But first I need to know more and explore everything so I understand everyone!

That will take much time, I'm sure.

Yeah, a little bit of time but I've got to do it right after all.

I hope you don't get as much challenge as Tarouza has.
