♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

☼ Land, Ho! ☼

[It's been days since they set out to sea and as exciting as it all was, Ven was aching to see land again. Not because he didn't like the ocean, he just wanted to see what was out there. Here he was on this whole new world with so many things to do, so many places to visit, so many islands to explore!

Leaning over the rails of the ship, Ven squints as he looks out over the vast ocean and he grins.]

Hey! I think I see an island!

[ropeguy]

[Well, that's welcome news for the shipwright-turned-pirate! For all the time in his life he's spent around ships, he's never spent anywhere near this much time actually sailing on them. Dry ground? That sounds like a welcome prospect, so long as the ground is actually dry and not actively trying to eat them. This place has far too many crazy islands. It's a lot like the Grand Line, in that way. It's familiar.]

[Sometimes familiarity sucks]

[At any rate, he'd better be sure before he starts adjusting their course]

You sure, kid? Which way?

[taketwoadults]

Mhmm, as sure as I can be! It's a little to the west!

[He then proceeds to climb up the main mast to get a better view. Seriously, this kid can not stay still for more than thirty seconds.]

[ropeguy]

[Paulie glances up as Ven scrambles up, sighing a little. Where does that kid get all his energy from? It's like he has sugar in his veins instead of blood. Still, he's been dependable so far, so he starts turning the wheel]

Alright, we'll start adjusting course. But if you're wrong you're on dishes duty tonight! I mean it!

[taketwoadults]

Aye, aye, sir!

[Ven laughs, grinning as he salutes from the top of the mast.]

What kind of island do you think it'll be?

[ropeguy]

[Now there's a question worth considering. Paulie pauses for a moment, considering it]

Well, if we're close enough to see it, we would've hit a massive climate shift by now if it was a season island. It won't be anything that's not summer, at least.

If we're lucky, it might be an island we can restock on. Hunt for some food or gather some fruit.

Worst case scenario... well, we'll see.

[No need to make the kid paranoid, after all]

Mmm, I guess we are running a little low on supplies, huh?

[He sits down on one of the beams, swinging his legs when something suddenly occurs to him.]

Hey, Paulie? D'you think there could be dinosaurs on this island?

[ropeguy]

[Dinosaurs, huh? Leave it to a kid to come up with that]

[Besides, if he knew what was back home...]

There could be, I guess. I wouldn't rule out anything on this ocean.

... but why'd you think dinosaurs first?

[taketwoadults]

Well, I was thinking about all the other islands we've seen so far. We've already seen some pretty weird stuff and before I joined up with you I heard some stories about islands full of all sorts of different animals and monsters. I mean, wouldn't it be cool if somewhere out here there was an island full of dinosaurs?

[ropeguy]

[He already knows what Ven will say, but he can't help but ask the obvious question]

You're not even a little worried about being eaten by a dinosaur?

[taketwoadults]

Not really, no. Besides, even if one did try to eat me, it probably wouldn't be anything I couldn't handle.

[And he's just so nonchalant about it, too.]

[ropeguy]

So what, you plan to win by giving it indigestion?

[He knows the kid can defend himself, but still. There's bravado and then there's begging to get teased]

[taketwoadults]

[Ven frowns, but it ends up looking more like a pout than anything.]

What? No way! I'd fight it off!

[ropeguy]

This coming from the kid who can barely lift the anchor!

[taketwoadults]

Hey, give me a break. It's really heavy, ok!

[ropeguy]

Yeah, yeah. Just try not to jump into any open dinosaur mouths once we land.

[taketwoadults]

Please, those dinosaurs wouldn't even know what hit 'em!

[He jumps down from the top of the mast, landing with a disgusting amount of ease as he summons his keyblade.]

I'd give 'em a HAH! [Thrust!]

And then when it came at me I'd give it a RAH! [Parry!]

Before taking it down with a HIYAAAAH! [SPIN ATTACK.]

[ropeguy]

[On the one hand, his enthusiasm is kind of infectious. But it's also worrisome, because the damn idiot might just go and pick a fight with a dinosaur for real]

Hey! I'm just trying to make sure you don't die! Don't make me tie you up and leave you on the ship!

[taketwoadults]

H-Hey! That's not fair! I'll be fine, Paulie!

[ropeguy]

Damn right you'll be fine if you're tied up on the ship! No picking a fight with a dinosaur, it's just idiotic!

[taketwoadults]

I'm not gonna pick a fight with a dinosaur! I'm not stupid!

[ropeguy]

You sure sound pretty eager to, and I've dealt with enough impulsive idiots for one lifetime.

[taketwoadults]

I'm not eager to fight one. I just wanna see one.

[ropeguy]

Tch... whatever's on the island, just don't go wandering off. You never know when we might need to make a quick exit - we're pirates now, after all.

[taketwoadults]

I'll stay close, don't worry.

Say, you were a shipwright before all this happened, right? Did you ever make ships for pirates?
