Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Yeah, but it's too bad we don't have much to trade. It'd be nice sleeping on something that doesn't move, though.

[There does seem to be something of a path going through the jungle that he can see. It's not much, but he'll take it]

Oh, hey! Look! There's a path up ahead!

[Because this clearly needed to be pointed out.

He runs up ahead, eagerly beginning to make his way through the jungle.]

C'mon! Let's go!

[ropeguy]

Hey, I said not to wander off!

[Dammit, now he has to run just to catch up. Freakin' Ventus...]

[taketwoadults]

[LOL TOTALLY IGNORING YOU, PAULIE. :D Well, ok, no. He heard him just fine and he stops a little ways ahead, waiting for Paulie to catch up.]

It's not my fault you're such a slowpoke.

[ropeguy]

The island isn't going anywhere! It's an island!

[taketwoadults]

But who knows what we could be missing while we take our time wandering through the jungle!

[THERE COULD BE DINOSAURS, PAULIE. D I N O S A U R S.]

[ropeguy]

Whatever's out there isn't going anywhere either!

[Sigh]

Kids...

[taketwoadults]

[Already started walking ahead, but he calls back over his shoulder.]

I'm not a kid!

[ropeguy]

[Paulie doesn't bother replying, instead following at his own pace but making sure Ven never gets out of eyesight. Looking around as they proceed, he's relieved to see that some of the fruit here looks edible at least. No matter what, the trip won't be a total bust]

Find anything interesting yet?

[taketwoadults]

Not really. Just jungle stuff.

[ropeguy]

So jungles are boring to you now, huh? I'll keep that in mind.

[taketwoadults]

No, that's not what I meant! It's all really interesting, but... probably not the same kind of interesting you're talking about.

[ropeguy]

Yeah, I mean the useful kind of interesting. Or the 'about to try and kill us' kind.

[taketwoadults]

Yeah, nothing like that.

Well, actually...

[He stops looking up at one of the trees, tapping his chin in thought.]

Hold on, I'll be right back.

[AND HE IS GOING UP THAT TREE RIGHT NOW.]

[ropeguy]

[And he's gone so quick, Paulie can only grumble]

Guess next time I need to tell him not to climb off, too.

[taketwoadults]

[From up in the tree Ven calls back down.]

Hey Paulie, catch! I found some fruit that we might be able to eat!

[Think fast, man. A purple fruit about the size of an apple is falling from the sky right at you.]

[ropeguy]

[Good thing he noticed them sooner, or he'd likely be getting smacked by a fruit right now. As it is, he just catches it in hand]

That's one way to get them down. Now we just need to hope they don't make us sick.

[taketwoadults]

If we find a village or something we can ask the people who live there!

[Ven drops to the ground, holding one of the fruits in his hand. He tosses it back and forth, looking it over.]

I wonder what it tastes like...?

[ropeguy]

Not a bad idea, kid, as long as whatever village we find doesn't run us off.

Just don't go getting impatient - I'm not cleaning up for you if you take a bite and get sick.

[taketwoadults]

Why would anyone run us off?

[ropeguy]

Some people don't want pirates around on principle. So if someone keeps blabbing that he's really a for real pirate...

[taketwoadults]

But I am a really for real pirate!

[ropeguy]

THAT'S NOT THE POINT! The point is some people hate all pirates so keep it to yourself!

[taketwoadults]

Oh...

[Now he just looks sad.]

... Even if they ask?

[ropeguy]

[Dammit kid, stop giving him that kicked puppy look]

If anyone asks, you're a traveler passing through. Not like it's a lie.
