Test Drive for July 2014 Apps

Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

[No use in really explaining it to her. It doesn't matter anyways, plus there's too many bad memories.

He slumps a little at her pout.]

Relax. I can handle it. We'll be fine. Don't you want some crystals?

[witcraft]

Of course I do.

[she doesn't really straighten herself, though, instead resting her head comfortably on his shoulder] It'll be okay. As long as you don't get hit anywhere vital, and you don't leave me behind, I can treat you on the spot.

[solokun]

It's been a long time since I've had a healer in my party.

[He just smiles at her on his shoulder before focusing ahead. Looks like they're getting nowhere, but he still hasn't seen anything really interesting.]

If we do run into anything, you could probably just pout at them and make them leave.

[witcraft]

[she makes a funny noise when a water droplet lands on her nose, but she shakes it off] I'd rather intimidate them with how powerful I am.

But it's hard to learn how to defend yourself when you can't walk. [mulls it over as their footsteps echo in the cavern] Maybe I could learn to use a gun?

[solokun]

Mh, maybe, but it feels wrong letting a kid play with guns.

[There's a thoughtful noise as he looks back and forth before a fork in this little cavern path.]

Then again, I guess it doesn't matter if you can do magic and stuff. Hey, Sieglinde-san? Can I ask a personal question?

[witcraft]

Yes? What is it?

[solokun]

Your legs, ah, it doesn't seem like you're paralyzed. Is there anything we can do so you can use them again?

[witcraft]

Ah... I don't think so.

You didn't notice? [daintily she raises one of the legs he's holding onto, so that he can get a better view of her tiny boot] My feet are bound. I could unbind them, but that wouldn't change anything — sometimes it actually hurts more if I don't have the bindings on, so it's better to keep them this way.

It's not so bad, though. If I balance on my ankles instead of my toes I can walk a pretty good distance, but it's hard to do that on a boat.

[solokun]

I kinda just thought that was some sort of weird fashion...

[He noticed, but he didn't know how to bring it up since he knows he can sound pretty rude already when he's just acting normal. Besides, you're not supposed to ask someone about their personal lives, at least not in MMORPGs. Even though this isn't an MMORPG, it isn't his real life either.

After looking at her boot he goes silent for a long while. Then he finally speaks again.]

You're really a strong person. If it was me, I wouldn't be as brave as you are.

[witcraft]

Eh, what brought this on all of a sudden?

[she pinches his ear lightly, like a chastising grandmother] You can call me brave when I've done something brave, but living with my bound feet is just normal for me! [smugly, she adds:] But I'll admit I'm pretty strong.
