See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?
A ... because I HAD to reply <3
[Coming up to the mess hall of the ship he saw the girl sitting there, card in her hand. She looked tired. She... looked like his Rogue and not. They'd gone through the first meeting before, but it was strange to see her there. Hear her. It was odd, but he kind of liked having her around.]
[Not that he would admit that easy.]
[He came in, moving over to a cabinet to pull out a bottle of beer.] How's it not been lucky, kid? Seems like a lively week, and everyone's still alive.
no subject
It was really weird. Because he was definitely Logan, but he wasn't. The similarities and differences were things that she never said, but she noticed them all.
Good news about it not being the Logan who knew knew her... He wasn't going to give her that look for having the card.
That? That was a perk right now.]
It'd be nice t' go more'n two days without someone tryin' to kill us.
no subject
[It bothered him a bit, mostly because he had a soft spot for the kid. No one should have to suffer through things (other then him, really)]
Give it a few days. We'll run into a dry streak, sail around for a few weeks an' you'll be bored outta your gourd.
no subject
[All sarcasm with a Southern grin.]
Can' say I much care for sailin'. Always thought it'd be fun, y'know? But this? Ain't. A' all.
Much rather have a good bike an' a dirt road.
no subject
Can't say I was exactly fond of it either. I'm with you, a good bike on a dirt road an' open air? That's tha life. But this? It grows on ya.
[The people you sail with? They end up becoming family. Hell, he has a tattoo of a Spade on his shoulder to prove that.]
no subject
[She has to stop herself, and she mouths the word over again. Because that was not Mississippi. That was Cajun, through and through. Damn that swamp rat.]
--at Mardi Gras over this any day.
Still. Could be worse, I guess. Got decent comp'ny.
no subject
[Didn't matter anymore. He took a pull off his drink before pointing the head of the bottle towards her and that card]
Mardi Gras. That where you got that? Davy Jones pull you from somethin' important?
no subject
[She paused. It was stupid, trying to tell the story so it put Gambit in a good light. He'd kidnapped her, dragged her to Louisiana, and used her to get information. And... kept her safe and told her someone was looking after her.
Whether he meant him or the rest of her "family," she wasn't sure. But he gave her his lucky card. The one he saved for last.]
Things got bad at the Institute. I jus'... needed a break. Friend popped by, took me down t' New Orleans for Mardi Gras. Needed t' get away for a bit.
Gave me this t' remember 'im by, guess y' could say.
[...That worked. After all, this wasn't the Logan who'd tried to stab Gambit. And who she'd had to explain all that to in a much less pleasant light.]
Been awhile, but... I keep it. Fo' luck.
no subject
[But that bullet kind of wiped that part of his memory as well. He saw the guy after, but had no idea who he was.]
[He did wonder if she was spinning stories, but it wasn't his place to call her on it. After all, different universes, after all. Though if this friend of hers shows up and gives her trouble, he wont hesitate trying to stab him again. Just sayin']
Sounds like a good friend. New Orleans is a fun city, once in a while. What suit is she, your lady luck?
no subject
Well. The smile said it all.
A seventeen-year-old girl, a male friend who'd given her something to remember him by, and that smile. Not that she didn't try to cover it up a little. Because, well, it was still Logan.]
Queen a' Hearts.
no subject
[He smirked though, taking another sip off his drink before shaking his head.]
That boy of yours shows up around here? He better treat you right. I might not be your Logan, but I'll put a few holes in him none tha less. [it was the protective side of him talking, that's all]
[His expression dimmed a bit though, frowning some.] It's nice to hear you livin' though. At least where you're from.
no subject
And also why she was never telling him the full story of just what she'd been doing in New Orleans or how she got down there. That all doesn't matter.]
Beats dealin' with the Brotherhood.
[A pause, and an attempt at a smile.]
Or anythin' else decides t' come our way. Seems there's always somethin'.
no subject
[He knows enough about his brother to remember him, a bit. Mostly from battle. His memories on him are still gap filled. But he was curious of he took to that side in her home as well. Sabertooth. What a dumb name]
What else have you been through. [He wondered, for a lil bit, if they had any of the same events going on. So far it seemed like a strike out]
no subject
But... It was still Logan. Close enough, at least.]
Don' think I know a Victor. They've got Toad an' Lance -- Avalanche an' Blob. Don' know if Quicksilver an' Wanda 're still runnin' with 'em or if they're with Magneto now.
Don' know what'll come of that.
[As for what they'd been through...
She took a deep breath, pocketing the card. Because, well, Gambit was a sore spot with this. No call, no sign of him, nothing. Like he just vanished.]
Jus' faced someone called "Apocalypse."
An' yeah. It was as bad as it sounds.
no subject
[Sounded as if she had a bigger set of problems back home then his own world.]
Can't say I've had this pleasure of an Apocalypse yet. We must be a bit behind is all. [he snorted at that.] It does sound like trouble though.
[Trouble at the institute. SO the school was still open. Maybe the Professor was still alive? Or Jean...]
[He hadn't asked yet, as much as he wanted to know. Jean was here anyhow, and that was good enough for him]
Is it bad enough that you'd stay here, or would you go home if given the chance?
no subject
Apocalypse.
And she'd been part of it. Had her mind tapped into, collected everything he needed. It still made her sick.]
Good. Hope y' never have t' deal with 'im. It... Yeah.
Wouldn' wish that on anyone.
[But the question he asked next was better. Easier to focus on that question.]
I'd go back in a minute. It's... not too bad there. Gotten used t' it, a' least.
no subject
Yeah? I suppose that's good. [a bit surprised but maybe not. He honestly assumed his Rogue would want to be back home more anyhow.]
Looks like you got a good control over them powers of yours too. Saw you take down that swordsmen the other day. How long have ya been in control?
no subject
[Because hers were hard to train.
It wasn't like Scott, who could use his visor to turn them off and on against simulated enemies. Those kind of things did nothing for her. She had to hurt someone to learn hers.
And that wasn't what the professor wanted to do.]
But I-- learned pretty quick. Tangled with the X-men, like, th' first night they appeared. Ran...
Ran straight t' Mystique, just like she planned, an'...
Guess I learned from then. When we've needed me.
no subject
[His hand rubbed at the stubble of his chin, considering all that.] You were runnin' with Mystique for a bit? Huh... interestin' how different things are for you and mine.
[and how much more strong willed this one was compared to his. At least that he can tell so far]
no subject
[Started with him, actually. Which worked. Send the most terrifying first.]
So, I ran with the Brotherhood awhile. Then got things sorted out with Scott an'... joined the team.
[And there was that smile again. Just a little hint of one. A typical teenager with typical teenage crushes.]
no subject
[Scott's dead. He wont speak.... TOO badly of the dead. He's actually upset about that. but the guy still bugs him. Aint he a bit OLD for her anyhow?]
Guess Scott is good for somethin'.
no subject
Sure, they disagree sometimes, but they're worlds apart. Nothing... like that.]
Nice t' me even when I was with the Brotherhood. Talked t' me at school, all that.
no subject
[He was the ass. He knows that much]
Heh. Not sure how you're world works, but Scott and me? Never really get along, but he was a pretty good with you kids. [until Jean died] So I aint surprised.
no subject
[That's the phrase that clicks. She sits up a bit, frowning as she crosses her arms on the table and leans forward. That is interesting.]
Scott's only a year older 'n I am. Just graduated Bayville High.
no subject
[Not that's different]
High school? [OKAY, first of all, high School? What about the institute? Second of all.... he's a KID? What the hell.]
Sounds like things are... a bit more different then I thought. [more so then his height and her Logan's, haha.] Where I'm from, Scott was... a bit older then that.
