Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

Sweetheart, I would love to turn this into a tea party. But it seems I left my tea and cups back on the boat. Oh well. But there's no need to worry, I'm not interrogating you. If I was, I'd bring out my dragon and do the whole good cop bag dragon shtick.

So, what's your story?

[If only she could steal that dragon, but she's not that dumb. But there's no way she's telling Cynthia everything.]

What have the turtles told you?

I'd like to hear your side before I tell you what they've said.

[Dang. She can't twist their words if she doesn't know what their words are.]

I'll go for the short version. Last time I was home, I was helping my father look for my mother's murderer.

[And it's the truth. Sorta.]

Ok, and how did that go?

[kabutos_claim]

It's still going. We're trying to find him, and so far we've only narrowed it down to one city... And it's a big city.

[anelegantmyth]

Leo city I assume?

[kabutos_claim]

[A curt nod.]

Exactly. We've been doing everything possible to find him or smoke him out, but nothing's worked so far.

[anelegantmyth]

And how do the turtles come into all of this? Ninja wars or was it just bad timing?

[kabutos_claim]

[Hesitation. She's not sure whether she should tell Cynthia that the turtles KNOW who killed her mother... No, best to save that for a time that would make Cynthia take Karai's side instead of theirs.]

They get in the way of our trying to find him. They're fun to fight, but in the end, they're an obstacle.

No, I get that they "get in the way". But why are they there in the first place? I mean, you don't just fight random people for no reason. That's a little messed up.

[But that's fun! ... okay answering with that would not earn any brownie points.]

Ask them. They're the ones stopping our efforts.

So this murderer, does he have a name?

[kabutos_claim]

[She makes a 'hmph' noise.]

Hold on. So far, it's been all give and no take.

[anelegantmyth]

I could sum up all you've "given" me into one sentence. Give me something to work with, kid.

[Fine. She wants details? She'll get details.]

My mother was murdered, because she loved my father. That man set my father's house on fire. It burnt my father's face and nearly blinded him in one eye. I was lucky to survive. All I have left of her is a photo, and even that was ruined by the fire.

[Perfect way to grind the guilt in.]

[ She works with children and teenagers. Guilt tripping her doesn't really work anymore. ]

Hmm...well I do recall hearing that exact same story from the turtles. Though their twist is, they have a picture that didn't burn.
