See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?
Fountain
Hyper-aware of his surroundings, he's not exactly caught off guard when the girl approaches. Though she seems interested (if not, god forbid, concerned, he's quiet until she speaks up first. Maybe she's come to admire the crumbling eyesore and he's just in the way? Only one of many things to consider. It would be presumptuous to assume--
He turns slightly toward her, quickly assessing whether or not that's a move aside excuse me or one of the can-I-get-your-attention variety. Her follow-up offers more clarity.]
If you don't have anything better to do.
[It's better to say it like that, than flat out own up to just how confused he is.]

Then, first of all and just to make sure, do you happen to have a book similar to this? Possibly with a message from one Scurvey Dog that told you to come to this fountain?
no subject
no, wait, that's exactly his luck.]
No one told me to come here. [Just to confirm.] This is the first time I've seen anything like that.
[In this instance. Not in general. He's literate, yadda yadda.]
Does it tell you how to get out of this place?

[She wasn't so lucky, though when she arrived she couldn't really go to the fountain either because of the witch that was there trying to trap people. Elsa shakes her head, both to dispel the memory and to answer his question.]
So far, the only clue we have for how to leave this place is that scripture and the legend of the gem that grants wishes. People assume that if we gather the shards and complete the gem we will be able to wish to return home. Other than that, it depends on luck, some people have vanished from here just the same way they arrived.
[She gives him an apologetic smile.]
It probably sounded confusing, right? I guess I should start by saying that, whether you believe it or not, this island isn't anywhere in your world.
no subject
You have a strange concept of luck.
[That's all he's got, all things considered. She seems understanding enough..that he's not meant to be here and the confusion ought to be palpable. Either way, he's attentive...save for a few dubious looks directed at the statue.
...So they've all been brought her due to some guys laziness? He's got no interest in collecting gems, not outright. He could list ten urgent things on his fingers that require attention asap; this would make a good subquest (or subplot) but what the heck, man.]
Isn't anywhere I should be familiar with, you mean. There isn't a compass that points to Dressrosa?
