See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!
A!
[Korra laughs as she approaches the older woman. She would have offered to help her up, but she seemed on it. The Avatar plants her hands on her hips, looking up at the newbie. Arriving here is pretty disorienting. She wants to be helpful, at least.]
It's pretty weird, first getting here.

[What is being sociable? Think, Hylia. How do the humans on the Surface interact with-
okay no, bad example.]
Where exactly is 'here' and why have I gotten here?
[The loftwing on her shoulder speaks up then as well:] And why have I become so diminutive?
no subject
Well... This is the town square of Isla Empieza. [Korra indicates their surroundings with a wave of her hand.]
This whole place is... well, it's an entirely different world. Everyone who comes here is from somewhere else. It's a bunch of islands, and we get around on ships!
[Lookit her, she's being helpful!]
no subject
And why are we here? For what purpose was I drawn- were any of us drawn here? How long need my people suffer while I am here?
no subject
...No idea. I just know that we all want to get home. People have started banding together, getting ships... Apparently there's some... rock or crystal or something that can get us back to where we all came from.
no subject
Then we shall find it and return home. I refuse to be parted from my people for long.

[Korra's posture straightens. Time to stop being so gloomy.]
I'm Korra, by the way.
no subject
It is a pleasure, Korra. I am called Hylia.
[A name which makes some wonder if she was named for her people or if they were named for her.]
no subject
So uh... I'll show you around? Everyone starts with some money in their pocket; it's enough to get you a place to sleep and find a crew. We all team up to get around. They've got these giant old ships here.
[Old is only relative, but that didn't even occur to Korra. She just wanted to help the lady out.]
no subject
[
Cheeky little bastard.]Ships? Hmm... I have never traveled by ship before, there has never been any need.
no subject
[Korra nods in the direction of the shipyard, not yet visible over the buildings, and begins walking in that direction.]
Companion?
[
I can't wait for the cheeky little bastard let me tell you]no subject
[They're likely very different from the ships where Hy;ia is from too.]
The Loftwing that sat upon my shoulder not long ago. He's very independent and opinionated. [Translation: mouthy.]
no subject
[That bird, huh? Korra grins.]
I've got a polar bear-dog with me! She can be a handful. Dunno about opinionated, but she does pretty well on her own.
[Of course, Korra doesn't realize that snarkbird can actually talk.]
no subject
A polar bear-dog? [That sounds... wait, what even is a polar bear?]
no subject
[And here she comes now, yipping and bounding across the cobblestones toward them.]
