Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

[No explanation, no nothing!? LUFFY PLS. But she lets herself get dragged because he might at least lead her to someone with more sense. Wait--] What do you mean Merrily? What happened to the Sunny?

[Because we are accurately deducing that that is a ship.]

You think I shouldn't be? [She's recovering a little of her sass, anyway. It happens when people are so obtuse.]

Do people shoot you in the face often?

Come on, Babydoll, do you really think I can ever stop chasing a pretty face like that?

[He chuckles.]

But considering you were dead to me until a minute ago, maybe we can work something out.

[Dead to him...? Nami is assuming figuratively, right? They did kind of knock his island out of the sky. She's not aware there's a time lag going on here.]

Define 'work something out'.

Around the ship. Unless Luffy went tearing off into the woods to find boars, he does that a lot. Oh, that's right, you wouldn't remember the Million Merrily. Good little ship.

[he slips an arm around Nami's waist and flings out a hand to catch a chimney edge]

You'll like Merrily! He's great!

[and then up they go! Don't worry, Luffy knows these rooftops pretty well]

[A sake bottle and two cups float to his side. Hopefully whoever had actually bought them was not going to miss them.]

Very simple, Babydoll-- if I let you leave, I'll still be missing a navigator. So, when I find your replacement, I want you to teach them. Everything you know.

[The sake begins to pour itself.]

Do this for me, and you may walk away. I won't interfere with you further, as long as your friends stay out of my way.

[You can stealthily do that all you want, Zoro. She'll take a while to get through this bottle, so you might wanna outdrink her if you want to keep it.]

Million Merrily? You've got a new-- of course you have. [Not...sure how to feel about that. It feels damn strange knowing the Sunny's waiting for them at home.] What type of vessel?

Brig sloop. [yes that is a much better tactic, guzzling down the rest of this bottle to move on to the other] Smaller than Sunny. But there's a guy who's pretty good at ship-building, captain of another crew, he made some improvements for us. Enclosed the crow's nest and stuff.

[mikangirl]

[She's all but bristling by the time he finishes. Smug, self-assured bastard. From two years ago, mind. And he mentioned friends. Maybe she's not so alone after all.

And she's armed. And forewarned.]

You, missing a navigator? With your sunny disposition? [Such sweet sarcasm, before she answers him, blunt as can be.]

If you get a navigator that's there of their own free will, you feel free to tell them to look me up. I'll decide then. But I'm gonna walk away no matter what you want of me. I don't need your permission, and my friends sure as hell don't either.

[mikangirl]

[Sense of impending dread at sudden arm, she's been here before--] Luffy, wait--

[APPARENTLY SHE'S GONNA SAY THAT A LOT

oh too late, rocketing up to the rooftops they go. Enjoy your banshee navigator, Luffy. THIS WASN'T CUTE THE FIRST TIME.

[Same kind as Sunny, then, in theory. Though Sunny was distinctly a class all on his own.]

At least there's some familiarity, then. [She pouts a little as he opens the second bottle. Fine, keep your alcohol.] How long's Keimi been your navigator for?

[scratches the back of his neck] Mm. Well, she was already doing it when I got here, so it's been a while. But she had help from Bepo - one of the Heart Pirates - for a while, and I think Marco taught her some stuff too.

[Perhaps he won't mention Aokiji giving her lessons, though.]

[he just laughs cuz Nami shrieking in his ear is really familiar and he's so glad to hear it. He hops onto a house with a long low roof and there is the Merrily sitting in the harbor with its silly pink dragon head that looks like of like Momonosuke]

Are you ready?

[it's going to be a long pull! But you'll be alright. Also it's kind of a rhetorical question because his hand is already flinging out for the mast]

Oh, we're not the only ones here from home? [She knows Bepo is Law's navigator, and Marco sounds vaguely familiar. She looks curious for a moment, then her eyes narrow.]

Tell me no jerks from home followed us here, at least.

[mikangirl]

No, I'm not ready. [I'LL NEVER BE READY.] Luffy--

[GODDAMMIIIIIT--

Well, at least the crew of the Merrily will have plenty of advance notice they're coming. Just gonna cling to you for dear life, you big jerk.]

Well, Smoker and Crocodile ain't here anymore, so you don't have to worry.

But yeah, there's others, not just Keimi. A handful of the Whitebeards are still around.

So no decent competition for jewel shards. What a shame.

More often than I'd like, at least. It sort of happens when you take your eye off what's going on, you know?

You wouldn't think so if you met the Whitebeards. [sigh, but no. She has a point] The locals are pretty weak. Even the Navy.

*Selphie appears, just taking a little stroll through town to do a bit of shopping. There was a cake place she was thinking of visiting...when she saw the cat guy picking up a book and looking at it. She tilts her head at him, just looking because he does look very different. Then, deciding that he's a newbie, she skips her way over to him with a bright smile*
