Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ Arrr, here be buried treasure, but not all that glitters is gold! Will ye be telling your mateys what ye found, or keeping it for yourselves?

*And she couldn't resist the urge to stick her tongue out at him*

Oh really? How do you know I'm not already twisted?

Hahahah....if you are, id like to see you prove it.

[he was still smirking] maybe you're not so bad for a furless ape creature with a blindly bright outfit

Nah. You don't want to see me prove it. It's just way too twisted.

*She was doing her best not smile or laugh. But then she just looked a little bewildered*

Uh, I'm a human. You're going to meet a lot of us. And, there's nothing wrong with my dress. Yellow is the best!

I have a feeling I could handle it, heheh. [though his serious idea of twisted was probably much different from her playful interpretation of it]

'Humans' eh? I'll have to remember that. But I'll forget what you said about yellow. It's so bright it offends my eyes.

[booyaka_boom]

*His comment about his eyes made her look up at him, and she realised that his were purple. Then she took a step back and made a point of eyeing him over, from head to toe*

No offense but...I don't think I'm going to take any fashion advice from you.

Hn, suit yourself. I can't help it if you've got a bad eye. [ignoring the fact he comes from a different world with different fashions]

[he eyed her over as well] you'll look childish and bubbly in that no matter how shapely your body is. [compliment or insult?] You'd look much better in dark blue or green.

[booyaka_boom]

Hey - I don't look childish! And what's wrong with bubbly?

*She blinked at his mention of her shapely body, clearly not sure if he meant it in a nice way or not*

Well, I have got clothes in dark blue and green. So there.

How can you expect enemies to take you seriously if you look 'bubbly', hm?

[he nodded when she said she had clothes in that color] well, wear them, then.

[booyaka_boom]

Maybe if I look so cute and bubbly, people won't expect me to kick their ass. Thought of that, hmm? Whereas you - you look like a jerk straight away so... I'd have my guard up much quicker than you would.

*She seems rather pleased with herself about all this, and gives him a quick wink*

Heheheh...well if I suppose my goal was to make people underestimate me, it would make sense. But I prefer to intimidate so that small fry don't waste my time...and so that when I defeat someone without the element of surprise, they know how completely I've beaten them.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie totally understands what he's saying, but she's not about to admit that to him. Instead, she just shrugs a shoulder*

Well, whatever works for you, I guess...

Yes, it usually works well. It also helps that I'm well known in my world. But I'll keep in mind that if I'm going up against a stronger opponent and I want them to underestimate me, to dress like a child...

[booyaka_boom]

Well known for what? The kindest guy with the nicest friends?

And you're already dressed like you're going to some crappy night club so that's just as bad. Or maybe worse.

[doomkitty]

No. I'm well known as the leader of my race and a merciless conquerer.

[he raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smirk on his lips] Well, looking like I'm going to a night club is better than looking like I belong at a day care.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie just rolls her eyes at the 'merciless conquerer' part, but she definitely looks annoyed at his next comments*

Oh yeah? And what should I be wearing instead? Some weird dress with chains or something? And besides, I could make this dress more grown up in a second!

[doomkitty]

[he chuckled at her eye rolling] you think I'm joking, don't you...

I've seen some dressed with chains that look very good. And how can you make a dress like that look like it doesn't belong on a kid...[actually he had an idea, but wanted to see what she meant]

[booyaka_boom]

No, I don't. I just expected you to say something like that - and I don't even know your name. I just know you're a pain in the ass.

*Selphie put a hand on the zip of her dress, and moved it down ever so slightly so that he could see that it works*

The zip isn't just for show.

[doomkitty]

I can cause pain in much more than that.

[he looked at her hand on her zipper] oh, great. So you can change the dress from looking like a child's to looking like a showoff teenager's. It's still too bright.

[booyaka_boom]

You do realise I have other clothes, right? It's not like I wear this all the way.

*She scowled at him huffily and glanced back down at his journal*

Look, I don't think you're done insulting me, but you seem to be done asking questions, so I'll leave you to do whatever it is you need to do, since having to look at me is apparently such a big issue...

Well I hope the rest of your wardrobe displays a better aesthetic sense.

[he nudged a toe under the journal and kicked it up to catch it] you could have changed the subject. But leaving soon is certainly a good idea. I'd hate to harm you after such an... Intriguing conversation.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie watched him catch the journal and she smirked, pleased that she'd persuaded him to take it. But then she frowned and took a step back*

Harm me? What for?

[doomkitty]

I'll be asserting my control over this island. Unless you're willing to become my subordinate, and judging by your attitude, you're not...it'd be best for you to leave. As much as I respect your backbone, I won't tolerate resistance.

And besides, even if I did decide to allow your presence, things could get quite dangerous. Once I set my black fire over a wide enough area it can be difficult for even me to reign it in.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie stares at him for a moment, mouth gaping open in disbelief. She steps forward, waving her arms around*

Are you even hearing yourself?! That can't happen! I told you! You're completely crazy! You - you're going to have to start a crew on your own with this attitude, and no one has been able to survive here that way!

*Then she points at him, finger nearly jabbing at his chest*

And I am Never, Ever going to be subordinate to you - so at least you got that right!

I'm not crazy... It is meant to be. Ruling is in my blood. [the way he said this it almost sounded repeated, rather than something he came up with and believed strongly himself]

If this Davy Jones brought me here he must have known this would happen. Even if not, under the direction of the Great Compass, all things happen for a reason. [that, it seemed he truly believed]

[his eyes narrowed at her pointing finger] that attitude is precisely why you need to leave.

There are other people round here with ruling in their blood, and other things besides. You'll have them as well as Jones to deal with. Not to mention all the people who live here.

*She looked at him by way of warning, rather than just being mad at him for being a jerk. But then she did narrow her eyes right back at him*

And your attitude is why you're going to fail.
