Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[It isn't like Amelia has even the slightest idea what's actually happening right now herself, suddenly finding herself in an unfamiliar city with only a vague idea of what was actually going on... and when somebody suddenly flags her down she's a little surprised, her eyes widening ever so slightly when she notices this guy has dog ears, not something she's ever seen back home.

He doesn't seem especially threatening though so the young knight musters up as sincere a smile as she can, walking over towards him now.]

Er, can I help you sir? Although I must confess I'm extremely lost right now, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be...

[demondogking]

[Well... with her making that statement, all excitement that was plastered all over his face slowly turned into a momentary disappointment, and then changed into being more curious now that this is a chance to meet someone entirely new and different!]

Oh, so you're lost here too, huh? Well that's fine. I was just trying to see if you knew where we are at and what is there to do in this place since my urge to adventure is just kicking up in high gear and all!

[And if the dog ears that occasionally perks up now and then to hear whoelse is near by and who is talking was surprising enough, the swishing of his large tail behind him should definitely give her a sign that he's anything but normal.]

Well, since we're in the same predicament here, how about we just team up and go on a party as we explore and learn more about this place! Just call me Kanata, nice to meetcha!

[Oh Amelia certainly knew some strange people back home, including a seemingly young girl with dragon wings who could turn into a far larger dragon. But dog ears? And a tail? that's entirely new.

Nonetheless he seems incredibly friendly, something that helps put her at ease as she visibly relaxes, her smile growing a bit. This entire situation might be incredibly confusing, but surely it'll be easier to tackle if they work together!]

You mean work together? Sure, this'll be easier with two of us instead of one! My name's Amelia! It's nice to meet you too, Kanata! So you're lost too, huh?

Amelia, huh? I'll be sure to remember it! And yeah, that's right. Well, it's more like I think I was summoned here than getting lost since... well, it's kinda like those eye blinking moment that you're in one place and suddenly you're not? Kinda strange, but interesting at the same time! But either way, Amelia-- first things first that every adventurer needs to do!

[Not even hesitating for a moment, Kanata reaches out to grab for her hand as he bolts off immediately to the nearest heavily crowded area!]

We've gotta talk to the locals to find out more about this place and then find a place to eat where a mysterious stranger would swoop in and fill us with even more detail!

Um, well I've never really had one of those moments before myself but I-

[She's not entirely sure how to react when he suddenly grabs her hand and takes off, although she doesn't have any trouble keeping up with him when he takes off, racing alongside him without much trouble.

One upside to being a knight, being in excellent physical shape.]

Are you sure that's actually going to work? ... although food wouldn't be bad. [Well, she is kind of hungry... and talking to the locals seems like the best way to figure out more about where they are.

She's not quite so sure about that mysterious stranger bit though...]

Of course! That's generally how things like this work! You get taken to a mysterious place, you go out and find out where you are, you'll run into your first party member, and then you'll go through a tutorial like session on how things work in this new place.

And once you've gotten things down to pat, something will happen that will pull us along into a random series of events that'll lead us back to our home in the end. And sometimes the first places for that to happen takes place in a tavern or an inn! And if you're feeling kinda hungry too, then the tavern is the first place for us to hit up after we're done asking the locals about what the deal is!

[He actually says this with both seriousness and the utmost confidence ever. Like it was common sense or something. Still, even if he was wrong, that wouldn't stop him from doing just that anyway! Although he does take notice on how well Amelia is keeping up with him even with a suit of armor. Looks like this party member is going to be one he can rely on watching his back!]

I'm sure there are other methods to do stuff like this, but this method of mine never failed me before! So let's go take a look-see on what this place has to offer, Amelia!

[Her mouth opens for a moment as if she were going to respond, but no actual sound comes out. Is... is he crazy? Because it sounds like he might be crazy! On the other hand for all he's talking about stuff she doesn't understand, he's still by far the most helpful person she's run into so there's no attempt to break off from him.

That and well, she has absolutely no better plan anyways, so why not!]

If you're sure then! Um, if I may ask one question... have you ever heard of somewhere called the Grado Empire? [This isn't a town she's ever seen before, so her best bet first would be to establish if Kanata has at least heard of where she's from.]

Grado... Empire? Noooo... no, can't say that rings any bell-- oh wait a second.

[He tilts his head to the side to ponder more and more about this just in case his ancestors had once called Empyria anything different, but he just shakes his head slowly to give his answer.]

No, sorry. The only empire I know is my own, back in the Netheruniverse. Empyria is our capital's name, so its possible that your empire is in another Netherworld, if anything. Sorry I can't be much help for that. Why do you ask? Looking for someone here that is from that Grado Empire place?

[Nether... world? That sounded ominous as all hell and she blinked a couple of times in confusion, although she did perk momentarily when he seemed to be thinking. So he hadn't heard of it after all... it had been worth a shot, anyways.]

Er, I'm pretty sure my home isn't in any place called a Netherworld... but yes, the Grado Empire is where I'm from and I'd like to get back there sometime! We must be a really long ways away if you haven't heard of it...

[... hoooold on a second. She missed it at first but did he say "my own"?]

Um, excuse me but did you saw "your own" Empire? I've never heard of Empyria...
