Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[you didn't find a pub Marvelous, but the restaurant where Mana works part time to make some extra money when Maribelle's crew is in port. And since things are rather busy right now, she has to help wait tables in addition to helping in the kitchen. So when Marveloys walks in, Mana is one if the first to greet him]

Welcome to the Rusty Fishhook! [appetizing name really] Can I help you?

[Marvelous blinks as she greets him. A kid is not ... terribly what he was expecting around there.]

[But he's too hungry to really CARE.]

Food.

... Well, yes. Of course. Let me show you to a table...

[And she does! Once they're there...]

Would you like to see a menu? Our special of the day is steamed mackerel with spicy eggplant...

Eh.

[Marvelous plops down, propping his elbows on the table.]

Whatever it is, gimme two.

[He's looking a bit more surly than usual. Really, it'd be hard for a stranger to determine if it was the hunger or something else that may have been on his mind.]

... Two? Well, alright. Coming right up! [she smiles, and does her best to get the dishes out promptly. It takes a while, but Mana is back as soon as she can be, setting two plates down on the table in front of him]

There you go! Two steamed mackerel dishes, with a side of mead - compliments of the house!

[Okay, that he could not, and would not, argue with. He gives an at least half way appreciated nod at Mana, grabs up a fork, and prepares to dig in without really a word.

He could worry about where the hell his crew was AFTER his stomach was full.]

[and that's when it happens. Someone literally kicks the table out in front of Marvelous, unending it and sending Marvelous's dish clattering to the floor

no it's not some asshole named Prowl]

This is a robbery! [the man with a knife grabs Mana into a headlock, taking out a knife] Everyone give up your valuables or I kill this wench!

[Mana stares with wide eyes... and yet, she looks surprised, rather than at all afraid...]

[Marvelous just ... sit there for a long moment or two.

This was far too common and occurance for him. He looks up at the would be robber, calmly, surprisingly.]

That was my lunch.

[abundantlove]

... why the hell should I care?! You know what, just for that, you first! Gimme all your money!

[he gestures to Marvelous with the knife, growling threateningly... while Mana's expression grows serious]

[Marvelous... leans back in the chair, propping both arms on the back of it, and crosses one leg over his knee.]

Small problem, there.

What if I don't have any? I just got here.

[abundantlove]

[the man grit his teeth]

Then give me your coat, dammit! Yeah... off with the coat! It's a pretty nice coat!

[gokai_red]

[Marvelous smiles.]

It is. Just, let me get...

[In a flash his hand goes in and out of the coat, and comes back out with his Gokai Gun in hand, pointed at the man's head.

The smile quickly becomes a smirk.]

[abundantlove]

[the man's eyes widen, and he looks terrified for a moment before his lips curl into a growl]

S-STAY BACK! Put the gun down, or I'll... I'll-

[just then, Mana ducks down, slipping out of the man's grasp. She then kicks out behind her, causing him to trip and fall back, screaming]

[Marvelous is already out of his chair as the man's screaming, casually stepping between him and Mana. He's silently a bit impressed she managed that, but just grins at the man, gun still pointed at him.]

So, you were saying?

[abundantlove]

I... I...

[the man whimpers a bit, holding his hands up in surrender. Mana, meanwhile, stands up, brushes herself off, and looks towards Marvelous]

Are you alright, mister?

[gokai_red]

[ Marvelous cocks a grin her way, casually still holding the gun in the guy's face. ]

I'll be fine once this guy pays for my meal.

[ He then glances around at the patrons of the establishment. ]

Don't everyone fall over themselves to help or anything, though.

[abundantlove]

Mn. We should probably call the local law enforcement... and don't worry about the dish sir... I'll talk to my manager, I'm sure he'll say it's on the house! And even then, if it's not, I, Aida Mana will pay for it myself!

[the would-be-thief and patrons are all looking at this situation with a "are you for real?" kind of expression]

[gokai_red]

[...Marvelous joins them in this.

He then shakes his head, and waves his gun still at the man's head.]

No, he's paying. For that, for the table...

[He looks down at his boots, which he now notices have mead all over them.]

...and a new pair of boots.

[He grins at the man over the top of his gun.]

Good deal, right?

[abundantlove]

... Eh? But sir... it's the responsibility of the server to...

[her manager's voice echoes from the back]

WE'LL TAKE THAT DEAL!

[Mana sighs] ... well, I guess there's no arguing about it...

[the criminal just groans...]

[Marv slaps her on the shoulder, still grinning.]

Nope! Now, how's about another set of meals, eh?
