Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

♦ NAVY SHIPS! Cannon fire! Guns and explosions! It's a Pirates vs. Navy battle! **HINT: This might be a good one to try this time around... :D

I'm sure the pleasure is mine, Helen.

[Harmless flirting to merely gauge her reaction to it.]

A month or so? Though I have spent most of that away from this island. The Navy has been occupying it, you see.

[He briefly explains. He'd only snuck in to gather a few supplies, since he could roam without being spotted.]

These guys are starting to sound like a pain in the ass.

[She can't help commenting on that. Everything she's hearing thus far is making her want to fight them, and see how tough they really are. Already, she's considering causing problems, and she's only just gotten here.]

Sounds like I might have to do the same then. Question is, whose ship am I gonna have to steal do it?

[Obviously she'll need a ship to get off this damn island. And she doesn't exactly have one of those.]

You would likely be better off if you simply joined a crew that has openings.

[He chuckles amused that her mind goes straight to stealing a ship. Obviously it is not an impossible task, but usually more than one person was needed.]

[She's confident enough to think she can manage it on her own. Whether she succeeds or not is another story.]

A crew? Seriously? I don't know if anyone would actually be game enough to take me on.

[Hey, she's a big, scary "Claymore" after all.]

Why wouldn't they? You haven't exactly done anything to warrant them wanting to keep their distance.

[The raise of his eyebrow, indicates genuine curiosity on his part. She had only got there, so what reason would any of the crews have for not wanting her around?]

[For a fleeting second, she looks surprised. After all, everyone knows why humans are afraid of "Claymores". But this place isn't normal, was it...

She snorts, finally sheathing her blade on her back so she can place her hand on her hip. As annoyed as she sounds, she still has that slightly devious smirk on her face. It's like they kind of amuse her as well, in a way. As long as they don't call her a monster, she simply considers them to be idiots.]

Humans don't exactly like my kind. They see us and practically piss their pants, so it wouldn't surprise me if the same shit happened here.

[hisoldtricks]

[He can't stop the amused scoff that comes out of his mouth. Humans. What do they know?]

Heh, I am not one to let mortals perceptions color my view of the universe. Their lives are fleeting, like a tiny spark doomed to burn itself out.

[He definitely doesn't have that high of an opinion on humans as a race.]

I doubt anyone here will truly care what you are, as long as you can prove yourself useful.

[And now she's curious, her expression intrigued. Exactly who is he? Surely not an awakened one, as most would comment on her appearance. There's never anything to hide between the awakened ones and the warriors.]

I'm gonna assume you're not quite human.

[Just because he looks human doesn't mean he is, and his words give it away. But she doesn't know of his name in mythology so she has yet to guess exactlywho he is.]

Sure hope you're right about that.

I'm human at all. I am not of their realm period.

[He makes no secret about it, when it comes to whether or not he is human. That's just vicious slander as if he were born to a race of weaklings.]

The universe is a infinite place, there are far more realms and races than humans will ever know about.

[Give her a moment, because this all sounds kinda crazy to her. All these things about realms and universes... Helen's still trying to stomach the idea that there's more than one continent on her world.

She shakes her head, bemused and yet curious.]

Sh-shit! Y'know, I only just discovered, a few months ago, that there's more than one continent where I'm from, so I'm having a hard time imagining that there are all these different worlds out there!

[And yet...]

You're on a different world, right now. Seeing is believing is it not?

[He gestures for her to simply look around them.]

[makestrouble]

Y-Yeah. Yeah, it is.

[Deep breath, Helen. It's weird as hell, but it's all real.]

So, can I ask you to tell me more about yourself and your world?

[Colour her curious. She can be rather inquisitive and how could she pass up the chance to ask someone about a completely different world? If she'd been on her own world, she would have thought Loki to be completely nuts, but considering the circumstances, she finds herself wondering instead.]

Now is likely not a good time for that discussion.

[It is not just the fact that he doesn't wish to discuss himself or his world, but more the fact that he spots several Navy officers turn the corner.

They seem to be asking a local a question, thus before the officers look in Loki and Helen's direction, he cast a veil over them. Moving forward, he holds a hand up gesturing for her to remain silent.

When the local points in their direction, the Navy officers look perplexed and possibly even annoyed. Clearly they see nothing.]

You should probably find a quiet place to inquire within your journal about a ship to board.

[He advises in a low voice.]

[She says nothing, doing as he gestures her to do. Carefully, she watches the men speaking to the locals, her teeth clenched and a quiet hiss sounding from the back of her throat. Eyes narrowing, she remains silent until Loki speaks again.]

Yeah... Will do.

[She growls quietly, her voice a mere whisper. She isn't liking these guys at all. Offering her hand for a handshake, she gives him another smile, still whispering her words.]

Thanks.

[hisoldtricks]

You're quite welcome.

[He gives her offered hand a short but firm shake, as soon as the officers vanish, he drops the spell cast around them.]

Fare thee well, Helen.

[He adds with a slight bow, before he turns and quickly moves to walk away. There's still supplies for him to pick up after all and he can afford no more distractions. After a moment he seemingly vanishes from sight as though he were never there.]

[She watches him leave and vanish, feeling rather intrigued. She kind of hopes she'll see him again sometime.

With a shrug, she looks down at the journal in her hand. It's probably wise to take his advice, right? Now, to find a quiet area...]
