Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[ Another sigh. Why did she expect him to give her any answers? She will take the blame on this one. ]

Ah, I don't know yet. I don't even remember reaching this island. It's pretty weird. I was hoping this guy would be able to hel-

[ She turns around and ...

Listen up, Luffy. We need to keep a low profile, we don't know anything about this place. It could be dangerous!

Ehh? You think so?

[sounds exciting!]

There's a town. [walking toward it] Hey it has skull and cross bones everywhere. [real ones too. He picks one up and turns to Nami]

I'm a head of you! Skull Joooke! yohohoho [and as he talks he makes the mouth move]

Hoooh this is amazing! [he'd been exploring for a while now and this is pretty cool! He looks up and up, finding an open window and stretching his arm the distance to reach it, hauling himself up afterward and landing neatly on the sill]

Hellooooo!

[when no answer is immediately forth coming, he pats the wall to see if it's real ice and then licks it.

[ Nami was too busy staring at the Log Pose, by the time she averted her attention to her captain, she was face-to-face with a real skull. ]

EEEHHHHHH!!!!!!!

FOCUS! This means the place is crowded with pirates! We don't want to attract any unnecessary attention, or start fights. [ She narrows her eyes because that's your thing. Staring fights and getting her in trouble. ] Do you understand?

[booo his skull!]

Yeah but maybe they know where we are. [he picks his nose] Keimi can't figure it out.

[ Blinks. ]

Wait- Keimi is here too?

Yup! Smokey taught her to navigate cuz we got really lost without you.
[wanders around, crouching to poke at a skull with a gold tooth]

[Stefano has found himself in the town plaza, and he's gotten the gist of what's going on. Now he's just sitting at the edge of the fountain, sobbing uncontrollably. He hasn't been here long, and he's already missing his friends.]

But...how do I go on without-a them? I don't know what to do...

[The sniffling and sobbing continues...]

You mean Smoker?!! What is he doing here?! [ She grabs Luffy from the shoulders. ] Oi, Luffy! You need to tell me everything.

Eh? Okay. I woke up and I was really hungry so I went to the galley but Sanji kicked me out so me and Usopp fished a bit and I caught a big on and accidentally woke up Celestia so Sanji kicked me again, he's in a really bad mood, and then me and Pinky took a nap with Zoro and then Kai and me and Usopp were up on the crow's nest and spotted the island and we asked Keimi where we were and what it was but she said she didn't know and I saw a cool volcano in the distance so I decided [takes a breath] to go check it out.

[Standing up straight, Archer turned to look towards Tamaki. In his community, it was bad form to judge a book by its cover, but he knew the quality of the people around him fairly vividly, given compounded experience. Tamaki didn't carry himself like a magus or anyone he would be familiar with on a working basis.

Okay! But first I wanna see the volcano. [strolling away from town though right through the grave yard of bones and skulls] It has smoke and everything.

[Now Gibbs was used to all manner of thing and creature from all his time sailing around the world. But he had never before seen a sealion sobbing. Especially one that could talk. Forgive him while he stares. before finally speaking.]

What manner of creature are you?

[Stefano glances at him with his sad little face. Give him a minute while he tries to calm down with deep breaths.]

...I am a sea lion... [Sniff]

((The ship's cook! They need one of those. Kyouya is trying his best but it's still killing Kaoru's delicate taste buds and sensitivities.

So here is Kaoru's best attempt at recruiting.)) Every ship sucks, but our ship has me. So, y'know, it'd be the best choice.

[ WHAT ARE THEY DOING IN A GRAVEYARD ?!!!!! This brings back some awful memories of the zombies. ]

We can't, Luffy! It's too dangerous. We will die up there! [ ;_; ] We should head back to town right now!!

[He'd seen sea lions before, just not ones that could talk. This was a surreal experience for him, but not too far out of what he was used to, especially given the nature of this place.]

I've nary met one who could talk before. You're not a god in disguise or somesuch?

[Although he hasn't had much to drink, Gibbs is also beginning to think he might have hit the rum harder than he intended the night before.]

[he can't help but laugh. He's missed Nami freaking out about nothing. He's missed Nami period. And it's great just to have her back again by his side like usual]

I thought you didn't wanna go into town! And we'll only die if we fall in so it's okay!

No...I'm-a just an ordinary sea lion.

[So it turns out trying to fly around while the sun was just starting to set is a bad idea for a guy who can't see in the dark. Who knew!!

But wait - what light on yonder ship is this? It's not a ship he recognizes, but he just needs to rest for a moment, and maybe use the light to see where the hell he is...] Don't mind me... Not here to interrupt.

[In other words, a dude with big black wings just landed on your ship's mast. You don't mind if he makes it a perch to look around and try and get his bearings, right?]

[He'd been staring out at the ocean, deep in thought, when he heard the voice. Turning his head to give a bit of a disbelieving look, his tone carries a certain "you came to bother me with that?"] ...Huh?

[Not that he didn't hear the stranger's words. He heard them, loud and clear. But, uh.

Let's just say he isn't sold by the thing this guy apparently considers logic.]

((Are you serious. Kaoru raises an eyebrow and repeats himself, gesturing out at the sea.)) Every ship out there. All of them suck. Being here sucks.

But our ship sucks less. Because I'm on it. And also because we might have a Host Club.
