Welcome to your monthly Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where new players can test out their characters' voices, old players can try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! ♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Elsa may not mind isolation, and may prefer it, knowing well that she's a danger to others. But that doesn't mean she wants it, which is why she doesn't bother to try to set up ways to avoid visitors. And why, as soon as she hears the doors at the entrance open, she walks towards there.

She stands at the top of a staircase, observing the man with curiosity and caution. She nods at the question, offering a small smile.]

That's right. My name's Elsa.

May I inquire what brought you here? Visitors aren't something usual.

[caster_blaster]

Well, we're all pretty new to these seas, right? Statistically, it's pretty obvious that you'd eventually get visitors. Though I have to say, it's a shame to have such a nice place, and so little help running it. I haven't seen any servants about.

[letthestormrageon]

Still the world is big, and there are many other islands to visit.

[This is a small winter island, it had only a few animals and plants, not a place people would be tempted to visit. Though the ice palace that shines on it may change that, but Elsa hasn't come to realize that.]

That's because there's no one here except me. I'm sorry to say this, but this island has no other residents or hidden treasures, even the food is too scarce to provide supplies worth of the time spent to gather them.

If that's the case, doesn't that put your own health in danger?

[letthestormrageon]

[She laughs softly and shakes her head.]

There's enough food for one person, so long as I get it responsibly and don't get greedy. It's different than for a ship and a crew with many days of sailing ahead of them.

[caster_blaster]

Still, for one person to sequester themselves like this...seems kinda' lonely. How'd you even chisel this whole thing out on your own?

[letthestormrageon]

I didn't chisel it, I created it.

[She makes a gesture and a soft trail of ice comes out of it. At the center of the room below her, a few meters away from the man, the trail lands and seems to gain life of it's own, the ice grows, twisting and changing shape until in a matter of seconds a beautiful fountain of ice is in place, completed with an ice sculpture of running water.]

I have ice magic, to put it simply.

[caster_blaster]

Oh ho! Very nice!

[He claps excitedly, giving another little whistle.]

I've seen tao magic, but nothin' like that. A beauty and a sorceress. So this is what they mean by "the total package".

[letthestormrageon]

[She can't help but blink at the last part of what he says.]

I'm sorry? "Total package"?

[Who are you calling a package?]

[caster_blaster]

You know, when a woman really has everything going for her. I mean, you're cute, you can do cool ice magic, and you obviously have a pretty nice sense of aesthetics. I'm not an expert or anything, but you've got a real eye for architecture.

[He points at the walls and ceilings.]

I mean, I can't even draw a straight line. If I had ice powers, my castle would look like a modern art disaster. Your castle doesn't have a wall or angle out of place.

[letthestormrageon]

[She had never heard that term but now she can see that it's not something meant as rude. Elsa laughs at the comment about drawing a straight line.]

I see, thank you very much.

To be honest I'm not sure if I really have such a nice sense of aesthetics, I just have to think, and those thoughts form in ice. I don't think it deserves such compliments when it's something so simple for me while other people have to work really hard for those things.

[caster_blaster]

You don't have to do calculation in your head or anything? You just imagine it and it happens? Man, that's much easier than tao magic.

[letthestormrageon]

[She shakes her head.]

No, I don't. I was born with this power, it has always been part of me. I suppose that's why it works so simply for me.

[caster_blaster]

If that's the case, why set up shop here? Nobody can appreciate it.

[letthestormrageon]

Because nobody is here.

[That's the whole point.]

This way I can't hurt anyone when my powers get out of control.

[caster_blaster]

What do you mean? You must have some pretty nice control, to set all this up.

[letthestormrageon]

Not the kind of control that makes it safe for people to be around me.

[Elsa wraps her arms around her.]

My powers seem to be tied with my emotions, if I get worried or scared they run wild. I trust you can see how that may be dangerous for others.

[caster_blaster]

Can't you just train them or something? Maybe wear some kind of limiter? I don't believe in unfixable problems. Could just be a result of technology being so sweet back home, but most everything has a solution. It's just a matter of finding it.

I feel all that scared of your ice powers. I've kinda' gotten used to a whole mess of really powerful people trying to kill me.

[letthestormrageon]

[The words make her frown, as does the tone used. As if it wasn't such a big problem, or as if she had not tried. The temperature seems to drop as her displeased expression grows.]

I would advice you to not make light of others' problems, Mister. You know nothing of me or my powers. I was born with them, do you think I would be so irresponsible to live my life without trying to learn to control them? Without training to constrain them?!

I understand that you mean well, but have you not considered that this is the solution of the problem?

[caster_blaster]

I'm just saying, I don't think isolating yourself is gonna' help the problem.

[letthestormrageon]

It does. It keeps people safe and here I don't have to hide myself. I don't have to act as if my power is something to be ashamed of, something to fear.

[It's not her power what she fears, but hurting others.]

[caster_blaster]

[Gene thinks it over, then crosses his arms and leans against the nearest wall.]

But that's just running away.

[letthestormrageon]

[She merely glances at him, displeasure still in her face.]

Maybe it would be better if this wasn't a decision that came from me, but was imposed by others in order to keep people safe? The way a criminal would be treated?

[caster_blaster]

That wouldn't be right either. You shouldn't lock people away for being the way they're born, and people shouldn't sequester themselves away just because they're afraid of hurting people.

It's not like you're some sort of monster, you just have a special gift that you have some trouble with.

[letthestormrageon]

[That... Surprises her a bit and the displeasure vanishes from her face, leaving just confusion for a moment before she smiles and shakes her head.]

You just say that because your first exposure to my power was this palace. You wouldn't say the same if I had casted ice spikes around when scared or made you slip by accident.
