Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

[Ah yes...that had been his last memory; seeing that giant paw of a hand coming for him before he reawoke on the Thousand Sunny...only to be blown off of it once more by that storm. Still, Luffy was here now and if his Captain was here, then he had a feeling everything would be turning out just fine]

Ahhhh, yes him. That certainly was a scary situation, I'm glad to see you've pulled through Luffy-san. What of the others though, have you come across anyone else since then?

No, not yet. I don't know if they ended up here or not. [if they did, they'd be okay and they'd find each other again but... he missed them, too]

[Brook too missed his beloved crewmates, but seeing Luffy here was a welcome sign of hope. His Captain's enthusiasm was a contagious thing]

I'm sure wherever they are, they're just fine; I'm confident we will see them again...or I would be if I had eyes left to see them with! Yohohohohoho!!

Shishishi Okay! Let's go find another barrel! [and since they were going to have to walk a bit to get to the barrel they had...] We need a really cool walking song!

[A song? Well now that was something Brook could most certainly oblige. With a slight adjustment of his tophat, he began to follow Luffy as they set out for a barrel of some denomination. As he walked, he began to hum; setting the harmonics up for a song with a very familiar tune before he began to sing the lyrics]

♪~ Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo, Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo, Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo, Yo-hohoho, Yohohohoo~ Going to deliver Binks' Sake! Following the sea breeze! Riding on the waves Far across the salty depths! The merry evening sun! The birds sing as they draw circles in the sky~! Farewell to the harbor, To my old hometown, Lets all sing out with a Don! As the ship sets sail waves of gold and silver dissolve to salty spray as we all set sail to the ends of the sea! ~♪

[The song was something a little more reserved this time around; or at least nothing so jovial as the last time they had all been singing. This was something simpler, his voice only barely above the humming that set the cadence for the lyrics...simple in every sense of the word, but perfect for walking with a friend]

[excited as he was, he couldn't help but be pulled into the song's gentler pace. It kind of reminded him of a calm day on the Sunny. Not lazy but not exciting either, just watching the clouds go by--waiting for the next big thing. He folded his arms behind his head and listened without singing along.]

That song's been around a long time, na.

[he looks up at him]

Where did you learn it from?

Indeed...I suspect it's been around even longer than my old bones. It was the favorite song of my old captain, Calico Yorki and so we Rumbar Pirates sang it so often it was practically engraved in my skull!

[Fond memories those were, just days spent sailing under the endlessly blue sky with ivory beneath his fingers and a tune on his lips. Simpler times before...well, before he became how he was now. The song helped remind him of those good times and of his promise to Laboon; even in the darkest of times, it had kept him going]

And what about you Luffy-san? Do you have a particular song you enjoy?

Ehh? Amazing. It's pretty hard to be older than you!

[which is what makes Brook so cool obviously. The question really need to be thought about much]

All of them! [yep] But I like the directions one.

[and just in case Brook hasn't heard it, he starts to sing though he's slightly off key]

The islands~ in the south~ are very warrrm
Paina-purupuru their heads get really hooot
And they're all idiooots!

The islands~ in the Norrth~ are very cooold
Hyakkoi-koi koi Zoro got lost there,
and his head rattles all around and
he's an idiooooot~

[the best part about songs was how he could change them]

[The entire time Brook had been clapping his boney hands together to provide at least some rhythm to the off key singing; but keeping key wasn't what singing was about. It was about projecting the feelings from your soul and pouring them into the words; be they happy or sad...if you could make your listener feel the emotion you were feeling, then you were singing right no matter what]

Ahhhh, very good improvisation Luffy-san! Allow me to continue.

Doooh-dondon their heads get really soaked
And they're all idiooots!

The Islands~in the west~are very windy
Yaaaa-ta ta Sanji got blown out to sea
and his body swings to and fro and

[Ahhhh, making up songs on the fly truly was the best way to pass the time if you asked Brook]

hahahahaha That's so funny! [he claps his hands over his head. Oh but he can do more. He thinks a moment]

swoosh-swish swish Usopp is swimming fast
Cuz he's being chased by a big fish

[and he's about to make up a new verse but he spots what he's looking for.]

Oh! Over there! [he bounds down a small slope to pull the barrel out from some plant fronds]

Good! It's still here! Isn't it great? [though it looks like an ordinary barrel but Luffy knows better]

[Well, that was most certainly a stroke of luck for the two traveling pirates; they had finally found a barrel for them to use...though there was one question Brook had now that he was thinking about it]

Very good Luffy-san...but what exactly are we going to use it for?

To go find the others.

[what did you think? He pulls out a broken bit of wood that he'd been using as paddle]

I think we're going to need a new one of these though.

Ahhh, allow me Luffy-san.

[Seeing a tree nearby, Brook began to walk towards the tall palm; unsheathing the blade from his cane as he walked with his usual hum hovering in the air. Oddly enough, he walked right past the tree and came to a dead stop, his humming halting just as abruptly as he held his cane up and began to sheath the blade; stopping only for a moment as he saw his face reflected in its surface]

Hanauta Sancho...Yahazu Giri!

[He snapped the blade inside its sheath with a loud clink, and as he did the tree began to shake violently as a multitude of slash marks began to appear on its surface as bark was tossed to and fro away from it. Without warning, the tree itself splintered apart as if it had been struck by a canonball and where it once stood; a single well made oar fell to the ground, its head sticking into the soft dirt]

That's so cool! Brook is cooler than I expected! Na na, can you cut other shapes, too? What about an elephant? Or a bananagator?

Yohohoho! I've never tried before...but I suppose I could. However...should we not first focus on finding our beloved crew first Luffy-san?

[With a small nod, he hooped his cane around his wrist once more and proceeded to grab and hand the oar over to Luffy. He suspected it was going to be a long set of rowing from here to the next port]

[he nods. They had time to do a few animals but Brook must really miss everyone. He did, too. So it was okay to find them now]

Yosh.

[he takes the paddle and gathers the barrel under his arm as he takes it to the edge of the beach, setting it down and looking for a moment at the horizon. They could find anything out there and even that was a little exciting! But right now, though, they had a barrel.]

You get in first.

Of course, thank you Luffy-San.

[Brook gave his captain a small tip of his hat before stepping inside the barrel, his skinny frame leaving more than enough room for someone else. This would certainly be an interesting ride to punctuate an interesting day]

[he puts the oar in, too]

Hold tight.

[Then he grabs the trees on either side and backs up, further and further and further. They have to make it past the breakers after all. Then when he figures he's gone far enough...]

Gum Gum no SLINGSHOT!

[pyoiing! Crashing into the barrel and sending them both flying high into the sky! The extra weight of Luffy on one side puts a spin on it, too, so they are spinning madly on to of it]

YAHOOO!

I think my poor heart just gave out...if I had one left that is! Yohohohoho!!

[Brook managed to say before the pair were blasted off into the wild blue yonder, their barrel spinning around like a mad top as they sailed through the air. This of course didn't bother Brook all that much; he had no brain to be smashing about in his skull, so he wasn't experiencing any dizziness at all. If anything he was still standing with his arms outstretched, still laughing like a maniac at his joke prior to take off]

[they crash into the surf, nearly tipping over but luck is on their side and they don't. After Luffy is through laughing at how cool that was, he carefully climbs into the barrel himself. There's a little less room then before and Brook isn't very comfortable, but none of that matters at all

He looks up into his eyes, whether they are there or not, and grins]

I'm glad you're here, Brook.

Truly, it is my pleasure to be here with you, Luffy-san.

[Brook barely moved when the barrel hit the water; years of being aboard his ghost ship having given him a wonderful sense of balance. He simply returned Luffy's grin with his own, his teeth seeming to shine brightly in the sun]
