![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
See you during the application round!
♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?
♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!
♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!
♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!
♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Or he would, if there was anything to look out for.
Eventually, he goes below decks to search for a chess set he saw down here at some point, and notices that someone isn't actually in a bunk.]
Can't sleep?
no subject
[ As someone whose body demands eleven hours or so of sleep a day to be in tip-top shape, Sefton's schedule is surprisingly all over the place. He usually supplements with naps, but considering he's on an odd ship with odd people (case in point, he is talking to a skeleton and resolutely trying to not look at him too hard right now), it's gotten even worse than usual. ]
Just waiting for everyone else to hit the hay first.
no subject
[His head tilts to the side. Sailing leaves a surprising amount of time to get to know your shipmates, but for some reason Skulduggery cannot even begin to fathom, most people have been trying to avoid him.
That's not strictly true. He can fathom. Which is why the fact that he's only seen this boy once or twice before doesn't surprise him.]
You're usually in the crow's nest, aren't you?
no subject
[ What? They're stating the obvious now, right? ]
Didn't mean I was waiting for you, anyway.
no subject
[He's wandering over to one of the chests now. It may or may not be his, but he's fairly sure it contains what he's looking for, either way.]
How are you at chess?
no subject
[ Sefton blinks while Skulduggery's back is turned. Wait, is the skeleton inviting him to play chess to stave off boredom on the pirate ship on the other planet where people from hundreds of different universes have been dragged in? What? ]
Not that good, though.
no subject
He gets bored very easily.]
Excellent. You can learn. I'm assuming you know all the basic rules.
no subject
[ i'm 15 and what is positive social interaction ]
no subject
[Ah-ha! A chess set. Skulduggery lifts it out of the chest and carries it over, seemingly unaware of Sefton's antisocial tendencies or how much the boy really isn't enamoured by chess.]
disclaimer: mun does not know chess.
'Bout half a day's worth, I'd guess.
Perfect! Neither do I. :3
[He sets out the chess board, starting with black. He'll move over to white if Sefton doesn't help out, though. Sorry, Sefton, you're going to play chess even if Skulduggery has to make all of your moves for you - and he will, too.]
We stopped that from happening, though.
Sweet!
... how d'you even—?
no subject
[Well, sort of. He was dragged into that last part. Same principle, though.]
You must have stories about where you come from.
no subject
[ Who has stories about apparently killing gods twice over and then apparently sacrificing themselves to do more of the same? ]
S' that why you're... bony?
no subject
I'm bony because I'm a skeleton.
no subject
[ He gives Skul a look like that was not the question, you dolt. Teenagers are expressive like that. ]
no subject
[You can't tell, but he's shooting you this peaceful smile. If you want more out of him, you're going to have to ask.]
no subject
're you a skeleton 'cause you... sacrificed yourself?
no subject
[His voice is even, cheerful almost.]
White, or black?
no subject
[ There's a pause where he tries to hide him just taking a breath. ]
Black's fine.
no subject
[It's a default answer, one given out of pure habit. He knows now. That doesn't mean he has to be happy with the knowledge.]
Are you sure? White moves first.
no subject
[ Sefton shrugs at the question. ]
Not gonna win anyway. Go 'head.
no subject
[There's a moment where he just sits and looks at Sefton, like he can't understand why someone wouldn't try - or why the threat of losing wouldn't spur them into trying.]
That's no excuse not to learn. [He makes a move with white.] Tell me about yourself.
no subject
[ Sefton waits, tries to pay attention to the move like it will tell him anything. First move is always important, right? In the end, he makes his own move with black and keeps his focus on the board. He never said he won't learn from the experience... just that his current skill is completely lacking. ]
Not much to tell.
no subject
[There's barely a pause before his next move, his empty eye sockets never even tilting towards the board.] Really? What about your aversion to being touched?
