Test Drive for September 2013 Apps

Welcome to our first Test Drive for [community profile] high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

See you during the application round!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Aye, my thoughts exactly.

[Though, sorry, guy. Nothing about you says pirate to Hector. After all, if you can pick a pirate out of a crowd of people, that is a pirate that is, in fact, doing it wrong, at least where he's from. After all, you wouldn't be a pirate very long if the Navy could spot you right off.]

[Hey now, Marco enjoys having the marines instantly recognize him and scream his name in awe and terror. It's the best part of his long boring days.]

I don't suppose you've got any nakama here then, eh?

[Ah. One of those. While Hector himself finds a certain...Perverse pleasure in having such a large bounty on his head back home, he also knows when to keep his head low and his mouth shut.]

Nakama. Afraid that be a word I'm unfamiliar with.

[Sounds like something from Japan, though he's not going to say so.]

[Keeping one's head low doesn't work when the whole world is a warzone.]

[Wait nakama's a strange word? Marco thinks rapidly.]

Crewmate? Friend, family, coworkers, they travel with ye on a journey through life, eh?

[Sure it does, if you know how. Been there, done that, really.

But at the explanation he pauses, because he certainly wouldn't call Jack Sparrow any of that, even if he's clapped eyes on him here.

No.]

Nay, this here be a fresh start. A good one, too, as me last crew seemed stubborn about getting themselves clean now and again.

[Sounds boring.]

[In any case, Marco grins at the joke. Internally though, he wants to point out that nakama are irreplaceable. And if they smell a lot, then Barbossa should have gotten better ones in the first place. Then again, Marco can kind of sympathize. Some men really had trouble with the concept of showering daily.]

Have you tried kicking them overboard? It does wonders I've found.
justguidelines: (☠ i can be cruel - i don't know why)

[personal profile] justguidelines 2013-08-27 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a laugh. Given what he's observed, it probably won't make sense to anyone else, but it's a laugh all the same.]

Most of 'em can't swim, mate. Don't wish to tempt fate.

[Well, he's done that a hundred times over now, so he doesn't necessarily consider his ability to swim any worse than what's already on the pile.]
fierybluebird: (cool breeze)

[personal profile] fierybluebird 2013-08-29 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Another grin.]

Mah. Same in my crew. Luckily we have a few nakama whose sole job is to fish them out again. Saves on the idiots who can't swim diving in to try to save the others. You'd be amazed how often that happens, yoi.

Are you sure you're a captain? You're too smart to be one. More like a first mate, eh.

[Oh, well, there's a little bit of a touchy subject.]

Can't say much for most captains I know, either, mate. But there are a few shining examples above the rabble.
fierybluebird: (distant skies)

Aye. [Light grin, but a distant look.] My Pops was one, but most captains of late leave much to be desire. Too many haven't a clue what it means to be a pirate these days, eh?

[He glances back to Barbossa with a grin.] I used to be my Pops' first mate. But now I guess I've inherited his family, and all those wars.
