Welcome to our first Test Drive for high_seas! Here is where players can test out their characters' voices, try out new muses, and everyone can help each other get some threads for their applications! Feel free to use one of the prompts below, or come up with something on your own! Comment around, have fun, and remember that any CR formed here does not carry over to the game!

♦ So you're new to this world and have just woken up in the Town Square. How do you react? What do you do?

♦ You're lost at sea. Maybe you got separated from your crew. Or perhaps you're on an abandoned island. You need help!

♦ "Pirates off the starboard bow!" It's an enemy ship! Attack!!

♦ You and your crew are hanging out on your ship. Just another day at sea!

♦ "LAND, HO!" Hey look, a new island! How about you go explore it? Tell us what you find!

Piracy's already doomed from where I'm standing.

[ Says the space pirate who was technically next in line to inherit a ship from her father, ended up working on her best friend's ship, and is faced with the idea of trying to figure out how the hell the ocean works. Even if she's got a stern face, she's got little idea of what's going on here. ]

At least with such limited horizons.

[ She wants to go back to space rtfn. ]

[He bites back the comment about perhaps it has much to do with too many women, because...Well, he's gotten chewed for that before.

Instead, he just gives a shrug.]

Only because they're bloody giving the titles away at this point. Any moron that can bleat louder than another be made captain. Sad, that.

A captain should be someone that people want to follow to begin with, not that they're afraid not to follow. Otherwise you just get disloyalty.

[ Though, after a moment, she supposes it best to add. ]

If anyone's afraid of someone being loud they don't have much business pirating, even if it feels like I've traveled through a historical file.

[ Chiaki turns her eyes to his face. ]

What's your name?

[That's the sound of his point going right over her head, he thinks, and gives a painful-looking eye roll.

Seriously, this is going to be the worst of disasters.]

Barbossa. Captain Barbossa.

[ She actually makes a face at that because she's fairly certain she heard something else. ]

You're not related to Barbarossa, are you?

[ She sounds a little thrown off, but that's only because.. well, her father's ship is named after Barbarossa. ]

...No. Redbeard be a Turk, and I'm afraid I'm from naught but Bristol.

[ She looks relieved. As much as her forced poker face can anyway. ]

I almost thought a ship I know was named after you.

[ Her father's, actually. But announcing to someone that actually seems capable that she's the daughter of a pirate captain, even if not a sea one, doesn't seem like the best of ideas. ]

[Now there's a hilarious idea. And terribly bad luck, to name a ship like that, but he bites his tongue. After all, moving along to get along, and all that rot, even if this isn't the Brethren of the Coast.]

Nay, never me. And I'd be embarrassed to think it were so.

[chocolateparfait]

[ To her, pirates of the ages aren't much more than legend so luck on those counts doesn't quite factor into her thoughts on it. ]

Not one for attention?

Not one for false flattery.

[And certainly not one to have his name cursed because someone is stupid enough to name a ship after him.]
